I had it for six years, and apart from a fucked router when I had just signed up with them (solved with a new router, again supplied by them) absolutely no complaints. Good speed, good reliability, used it for all sorts of downloading and gaming and streaming including Xbox Live.

If Virgin is in your area, go to Virgin.

If not, go away from Talk Talk. Laughing

I live pretty rural and still get good speeds.

However the supplier you are with isn't really what matters for speed it is the area you are in, distance from exchange, whether you have copper or fibre etc. Apart from the few cases where some companies might give you higher upload speeds.

What you should focus on is how good is the customer service, trust me, I have worked for ISP's for the last 3 years and have been dieing to give someone the truth for a change. Sky's customer service is better than BT's from experience, not sure about Virgin etc.

Been with them some time now, pretty reliable. 10Mb connection on ADSL, no throttling, would like a better upload than 1Mb though.

Had a couple of routers go phut, they tried to sell me replacement but if you ask for a manager and complain that your paying for a service which they are failing to provide, you'll soon get a new one in the post. Same goes for the Sky box, I think I'm on my third in 10 years.

Was on Virgin fibre at 20Mb, but when they throttle in the evenings to 1.5-2Mb, I ditched them and went with Sky.

I was never throttled on the 100/120 meg connections. Neither is my brother on his 60 Laughing Buy fast one, get fast speed.

Agreed. Never had mine throttled, and we often download at least 100gb a month.

I was with talktalk down south but they couldn't even do something as simple as process my home move.... so after almost 2 months of phone calls and waiting for more BS about engineers going to the wrong address etc I called virgin and they had me connected within 4 days.

I'm getting good speeds (about 53mbps as opposed to 6-7mbps) for an extra £2 per month

So far my biggest download has been 32gb in 1 night (metal gear rising revengeance and dishonored), my monthly total has to be closer to 200gb for the month, but that will probably taper off now as I got shit loads of games, movies and tv series'

Check sites like Groupon, Woucher and Living Social for deals. We went from Talk Talk to Sky with an offer from one of them. Sky has been reliable so far.

I'm on sky in Bournemouth and very happy with it to be honest.

Costs 20 quid a month 'unlimited' bandwidth [think there was a 15 quid set up cost but otherwise thats it]. Think it was on offer as a years package at that price so it may not always be that price but its been good so far.

Can get torrents upto 2-3mb download speed and thats not using any VPN so they seem fairly relaxed about that too - so far Laughing

My landlady has it here, it works fine. I run my laptop upstairs and she runs her laptop downstairs (both wireless often on simultaneously), rarely any issues. Thumbs Up

Never had any problems with my Sky broadband, I've been with them for about 5/6 years now.

A few weeks ago I rang them to tell them I was cancelling and got a very nice new deal. Always worth ringing them every now and again to cancel, and see what deal they come up with!

And yes, +1 for Quidco, if you decide to take a Sky contract then do it through the Quidco link and pocket some cash. Thumbs Up

I was with Sky, they messed up my original order, broadband and line was delayed, so they had to reissue the order, which they did, but only for the line. Week later, line working but no broadband.

Spoke to someone on the phone who had no idea what they were talking about (Strange considering it was only a basic query- and checking 1/2 systems would show there was no broadband on the line) and ended up putting me on hold for 12 minutes while she went to speak to someone about it.

I eventually hung up, called back in and spoke to someone who knew what they were doing. Week later, broadband is on, but the activation fee credit I was supposed to get on my bill never materialised, and when I spoke to them again, they had no record of it.

Once the broadband was active, everything was fine. Swapped their router out pretty quickly because it's crap.

I'm with Virgin, which I'd say is a better service. If they're available, go for them.
