Hi all!
So here's a bit about me!
I started riding in March last year. I'd moved house and walking to the station to commute to London every morning wasn't an option any more as it was too far away. I'd decided that a little 50cc on my full driving license was the way to go.
For a few months, it was fine. The little Peugeot Kisbee certainly got me from A to B, but it was a tool, nothing more. I certainly wasn't getting any enjoyment out of it. It bugged me that I was getting bullied off the road by Fiat 500s and other road users who were clearly irked by my ability to achieve 28.4mph (downhill). I derestricted it, but that just sold me even more on the idea that I should probably be on something bigger.
It wasn't until I got a chance to work closely with bikers on a job contract that I really caught the bug. Hanging around with them for a month and learning bits and pieces about riding really attracted me to the idea of riding for fun. And even better, I realised that I could do the whole 90-mile round trip to work every day for a fraction of the cost of the dirty, inefficient and rage-inducing rail network. I mean, who wants to spend over £500 a month on that sort of misery?
In October I bit the bullet and went for a CBT, immediately buying a Honda CBF125. I'd done some shopping around and Honda were the most welcoming to me. I'd been lucky enough to spend some time with Ron Haslam through work and seeing the race school at Donington had already endeared me to the brand. The treatment I got from my local dealer had just reinforced that. A CBR600RR was what I was aiming for.
I'm still only a short way down the road to becoming a half-decent rider, but having passed my test in December, ditching the CBF and hopping on a CBR600F, it feels like I'm making the right steps. It's reinvented the way I get to work every day and I'm having fun doing it. I'm making new friends and getting out and about on two wheels as much as I can at the weekends as well.
The next goal is to keep the 600F running as my hack and pick up an RR that I keep 'clean' for weekend runs... but not until I've done some more training and maybe some track time to really get my ability up a notch.
Anyway, that's me! Apologies for the essay.

That sounds like a properly sensible progression. How close are you to wanting more than the CBR600F will deliver on "fun" days? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
