A restricted NSR can easily keep up with a scooby, even a proper tuned one. Just tie a piece of rope between it's back bumper and your front forks Laughing

U could always get an R5 engine since some people think a 40ft lorry with one could still pull 60 in under 5secs!!!
:o
failing that only race one round a real tight roundabout or a set of twisting country roads!!

Problem with that, is that the scooooooooby would probably wipe the floor with the nsr around a set of tight bends, much more contact area gives the car a grip advantage and if he slides it it's not going to be catastrophic. Now a scoob versus an R1 or something would be fun to watch, the car would do the bends quicker but the bike would have the advantage of being able to steam through the straighter bits.

Don't forget we're talking about a 4 wheel drive car here, down at stockley park near where I live there is a weekly bike & car meet at a good sized roundabout, and every single week the cars hammer round a good 10mph faster than the bikes, simply because they can push it right to the limit, lose it, skid to a stop and try again - wheras the bikers can't do the same because they would slide into solid kerb at high speed...

Get yourself into a race with a proper 4 wheel drive car with a driver who doesn't mind fucking up the tyres and you'll see what I mean about the cornering.

Well thats prob true, the only scooby i've raced was a 1.6. Prob the fella's daddy's car.

I know u'll prob throw me off the site 4 it but i have 2 tell the story. My mate on a '00 Mito fully de-restricted sat on the bumper of a 555 Scooby on a straight roed past the Lisburn Cinema, while i stood amazed!!! They only got to bout 80mph before they have 2 call it quits cos of the traffic lights beside the Local cop shop!!!

P.S. same mad bastard as before!!

Like I said it's not a police state, I can't see anything in your story that might be inappropriate. Feel free to post anything you like.

errr.... isn't this a really similar post to the one that caused loads of controversy on the last forum... oh well nm

I still reckon a 180cc bore, tuning and cutting a bit of weight would let you beat a scooby at legal speeds. Much more sensible option would be to get a bigger bike (anything above half decent sports 250/other 400)

Yep, but it's not turned into an argument just yet - discussion is good, but fights go in the war room.

Hurrah! Tony - you're right! I tried to say that to R5 boy, that his car was just nasty looking compared to the sexy curves of a bike.... (and you can't wear tight leathr in a car without looking a little, well, gay, unlike bikers - who do it lots! Hurrah!!!!Mmmm) Wink

I reckon if you got an RS125 yes your hearing me right a HONDA rs125 70kg dry with a 49hp motor you could whoop an scoob it has a top speed of 125-135mph same bike they race in the 125gp's. Get one of them. The nsr should if driven correctly keep with the Scoob to 60 but after that you start changing up to about 6th which with such a lack of torque its going to be a challenge to keep accelerating. If you slip stream then possibly.

Hi

You might well leave the R5 or Scooby on top speed, but they would leave you for dead on acceleration. Those 125GP bikes have virtually zero low down power (watch them paddle them off the line for the races), and they are not going to waste any of their 6 gears in trying to improve the performance from a standstill. After all they only do it once a race.

All the best

Keith

if they have no low down power then even the rs race bike aint beatin an impreza. they have a top speed of about 145-150! and thats just the standard shitty turbo, the japo sti wrx, and ra's, p1's and 22b's all acclerate well quicker and have the same or slightly higher top speed with well better handling. plus aint gonna beat an impreza to 60 in a standard nsr, it gets to 60 about a second quicker and requires a lot less skill to accelerate fast

Well a mostly de-restricted Mito can sit on the bumper of a 555 scooby up to bout 80mph, and a fully de-restricted NSR can pretty much sit with the Mito i know from experience!!!

The only reason that NSR kept up with the MITO was because the MITO was misfiring above 9000rpm due to the heatrate of sparkplug.

Hi

Not sure of the top speed of an RS125 Honda, but I suspect it is somewhere over 135. Years ago (1987) PB had a 125 Frenzy, and one of the bikes that turned up was an MBA 125 GP bike (2 stroke twin), and that managed about 140mph. OK the RS only has a single cylinder, but it also has 15 years of developement on the MBA

All the best

The newest NSR250 is a triple. As for the RS125 having no low down power no shit. You need to keep the revs really high as they haven't got a power valve. But saying that they are wicked fast. Should whoop a scooby. In the GP's keith they never paddle off the line they drag their feet slightly but i've never seen them paddle. Anyway an NSR in theory should at least keep up with a Scoob turbo but in practice probably not.
