Hello, today while I was checking what's new on the market I found a nice '01 ZX6R near the place I live, for quite reasonable money. I went on-line to check some specs and the numbers look good for the ZX6R. What do you think? I was playing with that thought for a while now, having a smaller engine in lighter bike with shorter wheelbase and narrower tires would make the bike actually way quicker on curvy roads. Is it worth the try?

Any thoughts shall be appreciated...

ZX7R
Power: 122.00 HP (89.1 kW)) @ 11500 RPM
Torque: 81.00 Nm (8.3 kgf-m or 59.7 ft.lbs) @ 9800 RPM
Top speed: 270.0 km/h (167.8 mph)
Dry weight: 203.0 kg (447.5 pounds)
Front tyre dimensions: 120/70-ZR17
Rear tyre dimensions: 190/50-ZR17
Wheelbase: 1,435 mm (56.5 inches)

ZX6R
Power: 111.00 HP (81.0 kW)) @ 12500 RPM
Torque: 66.00 Nm (6.7 kgf-m or 48.7 ft.lbs) @ 10000 RPM
Top speed: 258.0 km/h (160.3 mph)
Dry weight: 172.0 kg (379.2 pounds)
Front tyre dimensions: 120/65-ZR17
Rear tyre dimensions: 180/55-ZR17
Wheelbase: 1,400 mm (55.1 inches)

Your comfort is likely to increase.

I'm not sure in all honesty, I've not owned either of those, but if I wanted a nice looker, ZX7R. If I wanted to do a lot of riding, ZX6R J model.

7r is an antiquated torture rack, but... it looks so damn nice it gets away with it.

Convinced my CBR600 is quicker than my bros ZX7r even in a straight line and I can't see the 6r being any slower than mine.

Can't comment on the 7R but I have a 02 6R with the 636 engine and it's a great bike. Nice and torquey for a 600 class bike and quicker than my previous CBR600F.

J model 6Rs are great looking bikes too (obviously subjective)

I've got a P5 ZX7R and have already said I'm never going to sell it. Long term plan is to buy a new ZX10R and give the 7 a complete strip and rebuild.

If you are in to 7r's whatever you have next will always be a downgrade. That's why people tend to hold on to them for so long.

Your ZX7R is such a beauty I wouldn't even think about selling it unless, the new bike is a MASSIVE improvement over that one. Smile

When was the last time the best looking motorcycle won any world championship? Thinking

Fun fact, ZXR750 never won any series, world wide. Thumbs Up

Well, you talked about improvement, if you meant beauty contest, then there's no such thing, I mean being better at being good looking, is there? Smile

Don't take me wrong, I like the zxr, but when you actually have fun on the bike, it's far beyond the reasonable speed, which is quite a problem on the open road. The GPz550 and NC27 were fun at much lower speeds = still safe to push it.

The zxr is fast, but not quick, if you know what I mean.
