Bargain. I never used to like Hi Viz but I am loving mine.

But mine has the little "Instructor" badge on the front and in the rear view mirror of a car it looks like the ones the Police wear and filtering is now a pleasure. Laughing

Not good enough. The problem with these is that they're so cheap and flimsy they'll come apart at the seams within weeks. Also if you do any sort of speed on your bike, the vest comes loose and starts trailing behind you like you're superman - you'll look a right tit. I'll copy and paste my Amazon review:

Quote:

Not for bikers.

As a motorcyclist I frequently reach speeds of... Well, I'm not going to put what I do on the motorway, but the fact of the matter is that these vests probably wont hold up well at 150+, or even 70+. After a few months of using mine, the highviz strips are coming away from the jacket and the tiny bit of Velcro that attaches the two chest halves together is nowhere near enough - those Velcro bits are coming away too.

Also, unless I'm flat out against the tank of my bike holding the vest to my body, it comes undone with ease and a biker riding a sports bike can be seen flying down the motorway at stupid speeds looking like an idiot with a bright yellow cape trailing behind him.

So, in closing - use for emergency purposes or light cyclist usage, but nothing more.

I think it's worth paying a bit more for a decent quality one with a zip.

I have one of these

https://www.workwearworld.co.uk/images/hi-ves/thumbs/S476-hivis-vest.jpg

For the princely sum of £6.95 from https://www.workwearworld.co.uk/executive-vest-p-260.html

Lasting well the pockets are a definite bonus.

Well bearing mind quite a few forum users are happy to use a £30 crash helmet, I thought they were unlikely to want to spend more than £2 on a high viz! Laughing

Nothing wrong with a £30 crash helmet. It'll protect you just as much as a £300 pound one providing it fits and protect you better than a £300 one that doesnt fit. Rolling Eyes

Not really, what pinky said is 100% correct. IF you love that super cool helmet go for it but if it doesn't fit snug then your head be rolling down the street.

So wearing an Ill-fitting helmet means your head will come off in crash? Thinking

No. It means you might as well not be wearing one.

My novelty German lid is snug, good to know that means it's super duper safe.

I would tend to disagree with that statement. An ill-fitting helmet would still offer more protection than none at all. E.g
Abrasion resistance

And I would argue what good is abrasion resistance when you have an increased risk of head and brain injury?

We can ague the point all day but its irrelevant. Not wearing a helmet is illegal here, wearing an incorrectly fitted one is dangerous.

A Hi-Viz looks gay regardless of if its flapping about like a cape.

I've always worn them as don't care what it looks like. I did find that having it flap about seems to make it/me more visible. Definitely get less people pulling out at roundabouts or changing lanes etc with it flapping about. Even if they are thinking, "look at this cock, thinks he's a womble superman".

Exactly my point. Wearing a helmet that does not fit is just as bad as not wearing one. Like what I said. Not wearing one, brain damage and head injury risk and cheese grated face. Wearing one Brain damage and head injury risk. Whats a little grating between that? Rolling Eyes

My Penny Coin Penny Coin the velcro ones tend to just rip open and buffer like batmans cape at higher speeds. Zip one or nothing at all for me the few times i do wear them.
