If you could assemble your own bike from scratch using existing bike parts, what would you build and what parts from other bikes would you put together, to create your own personal bike.

It may not be realistic, practical or even possible… just a bit of wishful thinking Smile

I would love to take this

https://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff426/zedheadchap/honda-vf-750-s-03.jpg

And put in the engine from this

https://i1235.photobucket.com/albums/ff426/zedheadchap/vfr-750f-j.jpg

But retain the shaft drive from the original.

KR1S chassis and body work, replace engine with large single cylinder 4T lump, just for the lulz!

I am aware that this would be 2T sacrilege and that the new motor would weigh more than the rest of the bike but hey, I still want one!
If money was no object I'd have both the 2T and 4T versions! Mr. Green

Mine would basically be my TTR 250 engine in a WR450F ally chassis, my nice easy-going, flattering engine in a frame that was light-weight, decently suspended and fit me!

Basically a naked muscle bike version of the cog driven cam VFR 750 Thumbs Up

After a short think, I'd probably end up with this.

There was once a Kwak Z650 in one of the mags that had RGV front and rear ends. I always wanted to do something like that - when I originally thought about it, I wanted to take a turbocharger from the Kwak 750 turbo and put that on there, with suitable engine strengthening, and maybe a bit of frame bracing. I wanted to end up with something that at first glance would just appear to be a standard Z650 - until it came to trying to stay with it! Never had the dosh though Rolling Eyes

If I could build a bike that had the characteristics of the KTM1290 SDR (not that I've ridden one of course - just going by ride reports), but had a more classic look about it, I think that's the route I'd take.

Ah, of course, strokers!

I raise you a Denco tuned Kwak 750H2 engine in anything that actually handles! Laughing

TZR250 3XV frame and swing arm, ohlins suspension, brembo stoppers and for the engine, oh, I think a nice fruity RG500 lump with a custom set of jim lomas or jolly moto pipes.

It's called Bimota, different engines in their own frame with the best bike parts the market could provide. Thumbs Up

Sounds simple. To even check the coolant level on my bike I have to start by removing the left indicator.

If it wasn't for that fact that my VFR is a proper going concern, rather than a scrapper, I'd be tempted to have a go.

VFs can be bought for next to nothing and it would only take having the engines side by side and ten minutes with a tape measure, to work out if it was viable.

Not sure about converting the VFR lump to shaft drive though, that could be a bit of a mission.

Given my utter lack of knowledge regarding bike engineering and mechanics, probably this:

RD400 engine in an Enfield 500 bullet frame done in trials spec. That would cause some confusion when launched from the lights.
