Anyone know much about them? Been trying to find crash test results for them to see how they hold up. Seems like a few look well designed - just curious as it would be nice to have a hoodie on this summer instead of cumbersome bike gear.

Anyone own one?

Would the armour not make the hoodie cumbersome?

I have a grinfactor Kevlar hoodie, I just wear it for short trips in summer / pootling through town combined with Kevlar jeans. I have not crashed in it but have considered that it could easily ride up in the event of a feet first spill and leave your back / side / stomach skin at the mercy of tarmac. Shocked

Maybe a bit - happy medium between a full on bike jacket and a comfy hoodie?

I was looking at one with around 8 belt loops to stop them riding up. Looked quite good.

So if the kevlar is just in the arms, is the idea that you wear it with a cut?

No idea about the Kevlar hoodies, but you can get some fairly sturdy mesh-jackets that feel and weigh about the same as a hoodie.

I'm sure abrasion wise they aren't upto leather standards particularly, and the jacket will probably be dead'd after an off in terms of re-using it, but still fairly reliable as protection. Popular in the US and a lot of other hot climate areas.

Icon and Knox do quite a few last time I looked.

I bought a kevlar lined top a few years back, with the intention of wearing it over separate armour for summer fun.

In the event, the two layers make it so thick that it's hotter than my lightweight leather/cordura mix jacket with the vents open. Summer fun fail. Thumbs Down

stupidly stupidly warm.

That's what put me off getting one. I thought about it but then thought my Kevlar jeans are really warm so a thick hoodie lined with Kevlar is not going to be a nice light summer alternative to my leather jacket.

I think they are more aimed at people that wear a cut and who want something armoured for their arms without having a leather jacket under it
