Ok so i have the GSXR 750 for track duties now, and am looking at getting something else for the road. The GSXR is very focused and set up completely with the track in mind, so whilst it can be fun on the road, it is a million miles form comfortable, so am looking for a 2nd bike for road duties only.
Grunt isnt really THAT much of a concern, handling far more so. dont mind a couple of tweaks here and there to get best out of it, but am only going to have around the £2k mark to spend, and i dont want another ongoing project, so it has to be a decent example for that money.
On my radar currently:
TL1000R - Just because i've always wanted one
Ducati Monster - upright, Twin engine, good handling Comfy, Cheap insurance etc
Ducati 750SS - just because!
ZX7/9 Streetfighter
Fireblade streetfighter
Bandit 1200
any opinions on any of those? alternatives i should be looking at?

Have looked at TRX's previously, so thanks for reminding me they exist! ____________________ Current: 99 Yamaha Thuundercat

How about a (maybe tatty at that price range) GSXR?
Then if you need any parts for either bike, you can just swap them over . |

Your list surprises me considering you say grunt is not that much of a concern. For handling, you'd surely be looking at something around 5-600cc, maybe even smaller?
Would 2nd the FZS600 (98-2001) - great all rounder, top end of 130/40 ish, not bad handling and can be improved with the usual suspension mods, all-day comfortable if it fits you right. Reliable. |

Cheers guys, GSX-F isnt for me im afraid, really, really dont like the way they look.
Yeah chickenstrip i know what your saying, im not discounting 600's whatsoever, just dont really have any immediately spring to mind as "wants". I guess i so have a penchant for "grunty" bikes, but nothing is out of teh question!
Not particularly a fan of the older Fazer, although they are very very good bikes, they just dont do it for me, but i would quite like to have another FZ6, as i loved that thing!
FZ6 is on the list! ____________________ Current: 99 Yamaha Thuundercat

Ok, so against all the good advice you guys gave me.....and against my own requirements.... i bought:
a 1992 Yamaha FZR 1000 Exup Streetfighter!
It was cheap, rides superbly, and has had money spent on it at some point... Bit of a mess at the mo, but ill have that sorted in next month or two.
Only problems iv found so far are the wheels, either the front is trying to headbutt me, or the rear is spinning away... new rear rubber needed despite having 3.5mm+ on sides is sign obviously the previous owner had these problems too! ____________________ Current: 99 Yamaha Thuundercat
