EVENT NAME: Sunset to Sunrise Macmillan Charity Ride
EVENT DATES: 21st - 22nd June 2013
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Charity ride - Holyhead to Skegness
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
START LOCATION: Holyhead
ADDRESS: Southstack Kitchen Carpark
CITY: Holyhead
COUNTY: Anglesey
POSTCODE: LL651YH
End location: Skegness – The Storehouse - North Parade PE25 1BY
EVENT URL: https://www.bikers4macmillan.org.uk
Email: admin@bikers4macmillan.org.uk

Bikers 4 Macmillan are a fundraising group raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support through the common ground of an interest in Motorcycling. Throughout the year we organise trips, rides and visits. Some are fundraising and some are not, after all, we’re motorcyclists that raise funds not fundraisers who ride bikes.

This is the 6th Year Of The Annual Overnight Ride from Holyhead to Skegness and it takes place overnight on June 21st /22nd 2014.
The ride departs from Southstack Car park (LL65 1YH), Holyhead at 9.30pm and travels across country (no Motorways) and aims to arrive at Skegness by 4.15am just as the sun rises.

Last years tour was a great success with 86 riders completing the 256 miles and enabling us to present Macmillan with a cheque for £15,000 with the help of 3 times British Super Bike Champion John Reynolds!

The ride is fully marshalled with 200 places available and there are plenty of fuel/refreshment stops along the way as well as the odd bacon butty thrown in!

Many riders make their way to Holyhead the night before and stay over in the Valley area before meeting up at the Southstack Kitchen:

where there are drinks and snacks available.https://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/s/southstackcliffs/facilities.aspx

Departing at roughly 9:30pm we will arrive around 4:15am at the Storehouse Skegness where floor space can be provided for a small fee for you to get your head down for a few hours (bring a sleeping bag, pillow etc) otherwise you can contact local hotels that may be able to put you up for a few hours as well although most riders departed after regaining some feeling in their legs, a bacon sandwich, tea and a photo!

Participants are asked to pre-register (Rider only £15, Rider and Pillion £20) through our website: https://www.bikers4macmillan.org.uk
All funds raised go to Macmillan Cancer Support.

They aren't asking for people to fund a 'support vehicle' for their ride though. People are funding all aspects of it themselves - including their rescue cover.

Odd. Mine was all self supporting too. Maybe because here they ain't asking for help. Must be the reason. Ask for help on this forum just attracts idiots. I'll remember that.

Well yeah there is some idiot trawling through other people's charity-ride threads trying his best to drag them down with purely negative comments.

Maybe you should take a look in the mirror moanman.

Moanman. Well done. You made a funny. Make sure you tell your mum before you have your bedtime story. And as the norm on this forum is negative comments i thought i'd join in. You only have yourselves to blame.

Your past day's comments are dripping with disdain. Definately a cup-half-empty type Smile

Pissing all over someone else's charity ride thread to bolster your own aggrieved agenda sums you up better. Enjoy being the first active member of my shitcan club mongo. Enemied.

Sweet. I made an enemy. I better get the barbed wire out and entrench my home. Never know when the double standards army will invade with counter arguements and silly comments.

Here's the thing.

This is a well planned ride with a clearly defined objective and route. It's run by grown-ups who aren't blaming everyone else for their own inability to follow through on good intentions to specify basic information such as: duration; route; hotels and camping; fliers; group donation links.

Thus it will be popular and successful and well regarded.

Well this certainly has got you all talking, for better or worse i'm not really sure.

The reason for posting the event on a forum is not only to gain more riders but it is also to spread the word of both the ride and what we at Bikers4Macmillan do.

Some of you have your own opinions of which you are very much entitled to but having not done the ride then please keep them to yourself.

The ride is well organised and as stated is in its 6th year. Fully marshalled with a support vehicle and fully trained first response paramedic as tail end rider.

This event is run by bikers who raise funds for charity and not fundraisers who ride bikes, every details has been clearly thought through to ensure you all have a great ride.

Feel free to fuck off at any point. I'm sure visor down or GB bikers would be all over your nebulous, woefully disorganised HfH-humping venture. Bonus points for your whinge about biking solidarity, they love that sort of thing. Maybe you could chuck in one of those saccharine yank poems about fallen brothers, or some other such tripe, too.

Every single ex-forces person I know sneers at HfH even harder than I do. Probably something to do with the fact that as a charity, they're dead bent. Macmillan, on the other hand, are well respected, and put the money they receive into the work they support. I'm not going to have anything to do with this particular venture, but I wish it no ill will: my opinion has always been that charity is a private thing.

my apologies to littlesarah for hijacking her thread but as it seems people who ask for help get wound up and those who say what they're doing for sure get help I'm purely here to get thrown off as I'm sick of this site. if you don't want me posting don't respond.
