Any one know of any providers that give you a long period EU cover, not just the normal 30 days? I'd want a minimum of 6 months, a full year would be best.

EDIT:

Answered my own question.....

Quote:
All eCar, eVan and eBike Insurance policies (excluding Short Term Policies) provide cover within the Territorial Limits of the policy throughout the policy year (365 days).

Your permanent home must be in Great Britain, Northern Ireland or the Isle of Man and must also be your predominant residence.

This extension is provided for the purpose of travel only; business use or commuting is not covered.

I'll leave it up, in case it is of use to someone else.

Most if not all policies have 90 days, just pop back over the tunnel once every 3 months if you are close enough and you remain covered.

90 days means 90 days at a time, not total.

There is no minimum term in the EU Motor Insurance Directive 2009/103/EC

You're covered third party (or whatever the specific minimums are) for as long as your policy is valid.

I use eBike for my UK motorcycle yet officially live in Belgium. Works a charm. (until I have to claim...which I'm not planning on doing). If I did, I have a mortgage and bills registered to my house in Scotland so that should be sufficient. Ish.

Well was thinking of being down spain/portugal way for probs about 6 months or so, so quite a long way back to trek to calais, and about 300 quid return of the plym/santander ferry.

Last year was toruing that region on bicycle at it was awesome. The roads are very much suited to motorcycling though! Pristine tarmac, miles and miles of mountain twisties and barely anyone else on the roads.

I'd be tempted to get a highly/reliable economical bike (125 of some description) and take it down. 17kg or so of luggage is was quite enough on a pushbike but of course of a motorbike it is nothing at all.
