First crash
It was ok though. I was riding round some coutry roads. Saw a bend in the road sign... so i slowed down, on the approach to the bend.
I thought that i slowed down enough, but the bend was really, really tight, much tighter than it suggested...Chevrons should have been in order. Even increased warning signs.
It didnt help that the road surface around the bend was bad!
It was either try leaning it over alot and hope i wouldnt loose traction. Or lean the bike up and slam on the brakes. Insticts took over and i leant the bike up and slammed on the brakes.
I took a nice landing in the grass. Bike is ok mechanically i think. lower fairings are cracked. 1 car diver stopped (fellow biker) and helped me pick the bike up. thanks to him!
Im fine, i count myself luckey!!!
Advanced training is in order i think. I did it for car, now i need it for bike!!!
I need IAMs number, anyone have it? |

Sorry to hear about that, I did exactly the same a few weeks ago.
I don't know how long you've been riding, but I'd only been on the road for about 3 weeks. I lost quite a bit of confidence for a few days, and picked up a slight fear of corners (wanting to keep the bike upright at all times!) I pushed through it and now I'm riding how I was before. |

If motoGP 2 has taught me anything, its that in a situation as above, the back brake is your friend!
Grabbing a load of front will just result in either the front end tucking under, or you running wide.
The only way to get around is to use the rear brake and corner harder. But as you know for yourself at the time thats the last thing on your mind! |

Thanks for the words.
Ive been riding for about 8 months, but you never "really" plan for something like this. I mean you always read about what you're supposed to do, in realitly it's different. It was my fault, i suppose, but the road signs could have been clearer and more pronounced.
Its true Smoto, i did know it was going to happen. No-one plays around with bikes and doesn't come off. Im just lucky, it could have been worse.
Anyway, it hasn't put me off riding . A silly error was made and i will learn from it. I dont think it was becuase i was over confident, merely in-experiance.
Words of advice; use limit points. You are a crappy noob for a long time, remember that. Advanced traiing, I think everyone could benefit from this.
The bikes in pretty good shape as well, thank the creator for grass and soil. also im still intact, which is nice... |

I just stacked today too
Came home, stopped, trainer lace in foot peg, went to put my right foot down to flick down the sidestand, whump straight on the floor.
Demolished my front brake lever. Hurt my leg. Lots. Was trapped under it between bike and floor, had to get it back up with a leg still being roasted under a hot engine at the same time. One downfall of naked bikes.
Need to source a new brake lever me thinks.
Note to self... whinge at tesco to give a locker i can put bike boots in cos trainers SUCK! ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...

Well trainers with laces to get caught on stuff what were you expecting? And do trainers have good protection against tarmac?
What were you expecting to happen?
And I do not advise buying from Gear4Bikes.com.

I crashed in trainers on a scootay.
Once.
Now I wear my bike boots, and i'm not going to ride in bloody trainers again, it's not worth the injury. ____________________ https://www.bikepics.com/members/nsrandy/96rs250/ My Bike!

When I first went from trainers (well more a kind of skateboarding shoe but whatever) to boots, I thought "Wow this is wierd, I have less movement, and I have to work my feet harder to do stuff" but after a couple of days in them, I try and ride down to the shops in trainers and I feel like my feet get lost and don't fit on the pegs properly, and now I wear my boots all the time, even if I am just thinking about maybe going out at some time in the day, I will put them on, because they are comfortable and damn sexy.
Heh, boots are just win win all round. ____________________ 04 Suzuki GSX-R 600 K4 - Sex on wheels :>

Oh and riding boots are so much better than trainers, once you ride with boots you'll never turn back... |
i have 140 quid sidi vertrabra. I <3 them lol. However i dont want the pikey chavs at work stealing them, nor do i want to demolish them in my locker. I frankly have them for the toe sliders.
As for the trainer laces thing, if you tuck them in properly its not a problem. I rode in trainers pretty much everyday and never had a problem, its just that it happened on the right side that was the gimp.
And will peeps please stop the bitching about the lack of protective gear, if i crash properly my mind will be on the crumpled carcass of a bike and the legal situation i am in. Not my injuries. I couldnt give a toss really. I wear boots for the toe sliders, and they have better feel on back brake/gear pedal. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
