I like the idea of naked bike with torqy twin.
I know BT1100 and MT-01. Is there any other?
Why are they not so popular?

There are quite a few around London, naked torquey bikes I mean. They make good commuters as the engine makes filtering easy and there is very little plastic to break in a minor bump.

I'm not sure revvy is that accurate, perhaps in comparison to a Harley Davidson! I think my dads R1100S' rev limiter is around 8,500rpm

I watched BT1100 video and it looked so easy in town. not like dragstar1100. It was interesting.
For multiple use BMW R1200 looks the best among 3 bikes.
(I'm not trying to buy a new bike soon though..)
I watched R1200 videos too, it looks fresh for me BMW without fairing. Looks like a good bike.

V2 and long strokes are old news, that's why there are not that many of them on the market. Thumbs Up

Anyway, I do have MT01 on my to buy list, I just want to taste the torque of an engine that can push the bike over 120 at 4000rpm. Smile

Also look at Yamaha TRX850 Thumbs Up

I'd like to try MT01 someday too. I have TDM900 but it's very revvy engine and torqe under 2000 isn't practical, keen to stall and drop in town.

I checked aprilia shiver and found its bore x stroke is 92×56.4 mm.
TDM900 is 92.0×67.5mm and it has shorter stroke? than TDM.
TDM is a good bike but I usually ride it for cruising below 3000rpm, sometimes want more torquey one. So if I have a chance to go for a new bike, I want more long stroke twin bikes (but not cruiser).

How about getting an big in-line four? XJR, CB, ZRX, Zephyr, GSF, GSX, I know it's not the same but those engines are huge, GSX1400 has to have a plenty of torque.

I am afraid of Big IL4 bikes. They are heavy and I can't control them.
I test rode ZRX1200daeg once, it was very heavy and powerful. Maybe too powerful for my riding skill Embarassed
If I have a chance(and money), I think I will go for BMWR1200 or BT1100. MT-01 looks too big and heavy, Buell looks too difficult for me.

There probably will be more soon.

NC700 is quite torquey for the size. 61 Nm at only 4750 rpm.

Otherwise B-King has massive torque. 108 lbf·ft (146 N·m) at 7200 rpm

SV1000 is one of the racy (revvy) V twin (98.0 x 66.0 mm) I think.
I imagine SV1000 engine is like TDM900. I also compared DL1000 with TDM900 too. My topic title wasn't good. I should have written "Naked bike with torquey engine like cruisers".

Having watched NC700 videos, they seem to have rich low range torque.
Thumbs Up Regarding power, I think 90bhp is the maximum I can control having owned TDM900.

Just don't, SV1000 was a experiment that did not work. They say TL was great, then I had a go on my mates SV1000S and that bike was, I don't know, definitely not worth the money it costed.

Engine characteristic is also important.

Honda is known for super easy, stable power delivery when yamaha has strong power boost at high revs.

Sometimes bigger more powerful bikes can be easier to ride than some revvy bikes with less power on paper.

With high torque you can ride on higher gear and smother the power.

Has to be a Buell then. The Bulldog or the MT-01 are probably the closest Japanese bikes to Buell, but they are very heavy and don't have the same kind of power as the Buell.

The Buells are very easy to ride and don't have loads of power. They won't run away with you and they are very light. They are huge fun and hugely confidence inspiring.

Shame they aren't very well built, not all that reliable and probably not easy to get parts for where you live. Plus I think it would be ironic that a Japanese man living in Japan rides an American motorcycle! Wink

I have the BT1100 bulldog and it does have a lot of power at low revs plus handles and brakes well - but it's heavy despite being physically small, so a bit of a handful parking and such.
They never sold many and stopped about 2007 I think so it's no longer easy to find a decent used one.

What does strike me is how well finished it is compared to a previous Suzuki Bandit and SV650 - hardly a trace of corrosion on mine and it's 7 years old, though I don't use it when roads are obviously salty.
