Stashed in good nick? You think they may come back to play with it more?

If the above is yes try to catch the cunts. I'm sure you can dispense more than the conditional discharge they will get if ever caught.

As to inform the police just go to your local station.

You need to claim it back asap.
However, be careful you can prove it's yours. Some enterprising person might have applied for a V5 in their name (unlikely if kept in a bush but it happens). I'd claim bike 1st and then see who to contact.

I believe if you had theft insurance (that's TPFT or fully comp) and they paid out then technically the bike belongs to insurance company. If only 3rd party you're lucky.

As reported stolen to ride you may have to untangle any stolen flags for insurance and just in case the police can be bothered or any rear facing ANPR pings.

Police will have your details on file, they're good like that, love a paper trail.

Sorry, not much actual help although I'd be interested in how this develops.

ill be keeping an eye on the place to try catch them anyway, i know every saturday theres bikes down that way because theres an mx track and plenty of woods to play in, ill contact the local station tomorrow and let them know ive found it, and its 100% mine the numbers are still all there (muppets)

as for insurance i didnt even claim it i just cancelled to save the hassle, so am i in a good position here or could it get complicated?

Personally, if it were me, I'd phone the police to let them know you've found it (thus it's there to be inspected when they want), and if they're not heading straight there to take a look, I'd get it back home pronto (without riding it uninsured).

If you didn't get an insurance payout or have one being processed then it is still your bike. You are perfectly entitled to take it back from where you found it. Let the police know, though. Go to your local police station and talk to them about it.

As above - it's your property, do what you want with it. Tell the cops you have found it and took it home.

Has your insurance paid out on the theft? If not, why have you not taken the bike back?

Up to the police (if they want to inspect regarding any investigation, but they probably won't).

But they may just try and nick you for theft of your own motorcycle although without an insurance payout, the only possible crime would be wasting police time?

I say this as I had a bike stolen many years ago. Insurance paid out and I thought nothing more of it. Fast forward a few months and I found the bike in a field whilst walking the dog. Rang the popo and was advised to take it home. Next thing I know, I was in the cells under suspicion of theft. Seems they like an easy collar, just couldn't pin it on me as I hadn't done it.

They couldn't really give a monkey's mate. Anyone who's ever been burgled will attest to that.

Yeah, make sure you call police, let them know you've found it and get a reference from them for your call.
When a bike is nicked it has a stolen marker placed on it, so you'll be pinging ANPR cameras everywhere if not!

You should call them without delay.
They've been searching for your bike for months and could well be out there looking right now. It's a cold night and those cops deserve a rest.
Call them now.

Depending where it got stolen from; if it got stolen from your home address expect another visit soon. Not a threat but the culprits are likely to try steal it again if it was easy enough last time.
