As in the title.

Has anyone done this and not been screwed?

Going to check with my insurer about adding an additional bike but think that may result in a very high premium.

Sure, I do it since it's earned on a per-policy basis. If you have two bikes on one policy you can have it. You can't use the same NCD twice so if you have two separate policies you're stuffed but adding an additional bike to an existing policy means your NCD will cover the premium for both together. Some insurers will only allow a 'temporary additional' though, as opposed to adding a bike for the duration because that changes a single-bike policy to a multi-bike policy.

A benefit of running two separate policies is that you accrue NCD twice concurrently, so if you had a claim on one policy you still have NCD on the other for renewal time, except you would then just have the one, not two.

Ok thanks for that...

Just checked that it only makes a £50 difference so may just go with a separate policy...

Will see what my insurers say.

NCD is a scam, a named driver in my car policy made a claim. Other party admitted full liability and all damages were recovered. The bike insurance wanted to charge m extra for this. They said:

I had had a claim, which I hadn't.
It was ongoing, which it wasn't.
It affected my no claims discount. Which it didn't according to the car insurer.

When I got them proof that is was all sorted and I wasn't affected I asked them if I could transfer my car NCD over, they said no. So why does a car claim affect a bike policy then?

Thieving fuckers the lot of em.
