Hit a problem today,
the faster I ride the faster my indicators flash.

I.e. at idle: flash ............ flash ............ flash ............
At 30mph flash .... flash .... flash .... flash ....
at 70mph flash. flash. flash. flash

even at 30 it goes ridiculously fast.

How in the holy hell do I fix this, dont have a clue about electrics ...

Indicator relay is the probable fault

Clipped to the inside of the left hand "tank fairing" in front of the tank

Think. Why would the relay be acting differently at different road (i.e. engine) speeds?

Because it's getting a different voltage.

So the regulator isn't regulating.

It is a Honda, after all.

Verify with a multi-meter, replace if necessary. Expect blown bulbs and or fuses and a cooked battery if you continue to ride it.

I'd be measuring your charging voltage at the battery terminals. It should be around 14v @ 3-4000 rpm.

I imagine you are right. I also despair at the thought of fitting bi-metallic strip indie relays as OE in this day and age.

Voltage regulator has gone crazy I think, leave it and you may boil your battery and blow bulbs and damage electricals, get it checked asap.

This is due to the indicator relay/flasher unit whatever you want to call it.

Had this issue with mine, my original one went missing not sure if it just fell off or if some sad ass wipe decided to pinch it at college as it's easily accessible from inside of the front left fairing. Brought some cheap shit one for 3 quid and whenever I was going fast the indicators would flash like fuck then would slow down the flash rate as I slowed down.

Brought a still cheap but slightly more expensive one for 7 quid and it's perfectly fine.

And just to clarify the original one is perfectly fine. If you brought the bike second hand then maybe the owner brought the cheap shit one which for me was a cylindrical one. The one I have now is rectangular. I know shape doesn't make a difference but just saying if it's a cylindrical one then it's most likely the cheap shit one I had on it.

Fair enough, your relay was probably picking up extra energy from crossing lay lines.

Why? Tried, tested & cheap.

Dat current (therefore voltage and load) dependant flash-rate.

But it lets you know that your regulator is hosed, if you've got the wit to apply ten seconds of reasoning rather than throwing a fancy electronic relay at it and riding in happy ignorance.

It also lets you know that a bulb is blown. Obviously we all check the rear indicators before every ride and at every fuel stop on a long ride, don't we?
