hi guys,

hope we're well!

just wondering if anyone could shine some light on this for me. i've gave myself until april 13th (week before easter) to get my bike ready, MOT'd, taxed etc.

once ready, i was thinking of getting it a pre-MOT check from a mechanic i use before taking it to the station for a test, to make sure i haven't missed anything, but i was wondering where i would stand if riding to the garage for the check and the cops saw me? i know i can ride it to the testing station and back, but what about the mechanics?

cheers,
BC

Pre-MOT check? You know if the bike doesn't pass, you can just get the bits sorted and get a retest? Seems like a waste of time to me.

Plus you wont be legal riding anywhere except a pre-booked full MOT test

There's an exception for taking it for required remedial work, but it's ill defined. My inference is that means work specifically identified by the MOT, not work that you think might be necessary.

"Just riding it to a mate" probably won't wash as an excuse.

No, you can't legally ride it anywhere at all except directly to a pre-booked MOT.

i know but it wouldn't cost me nothing to get it checked over, and that way i'm not scrambling about trying to get it MOT'd for a second time, especially when the only decent MOT garage i know of around here only do MOT's on a sunday (which isn't decent of them, i guess, but other than that they are)

thanks for clearing it up though guys, appreciated.
