Can they operate in heavy rain?
As they generally use laser wouldn't the rain scatter the light and screw up the readings?

If the rain was that heavy that it may skew the readings, it probably actually would be a good idea to slow down.

I'm not normally an advocate of 'slow down' advice, but it does seem singularly well-placed in this instance.

Short answer is no. If enough light is getting to you that you can see the van, then enough laser is getting to you to detect your speed.

Wasn't going that fast but enough to be over the 50 limit on a long straight
At 60-70ish the fairing keeps the rain off really well so that's what I was doing
Hey ho maybe the lack of front number plate will save me
It was only one of the basic vans not one of the ones with cameras all round it

Yes they work in the rain but their effective range will be reduced.
