Bit strange that one.
He looked to have enough lean on for the bend, I can't see why he decided to sit the bike back up.
Ok, the bend tightened up a little bit but I'm still finding it odd especially as he'd already rolled off the gas. Thinking

A prime example of target fixation.

I'm sure that corner was more than manageable if he'd just dug in instead of bottling it.

As above - target fixation.

Probably had already unnerved himself with all the white line crossing, and having to squeeze it on a fast overtak,e entering the corner too fast for his (don't get me wrong, and my) ability.

There was a reason the guy in front was slow. He was riding within his comfort zone.

A lesson to us all maybe.
White lines are there for a reason.
The road knew it had a tightening bend coming up.
It even tried to warn the rider.
Ignore at your peril.

Very lucky. For the rider AND the car driver. A head on could have killed them both.

I'm also of the opinion if he'd have just stuck at the corner he'd have made it. I've learnt a thing on this forum, that is, if you think you can't do the corner and you're going too fast, lean in and gun it, the bike can do much better than you.

silly silly boy and another statistic for that road.

Yep, another bellend adds to the 'need' for a lower speed limit on the road.

Very slow clap. Rolling Eyes

^ most probably.

That road has a bad reputation for a reason, it catches a LOT of people out.

Could have been a whole lot worse there.

We have all made mistakes. Some have bit us in the arse.

Some we have got away with.

He was a fanny and came off lucky. Just as well he missed the car.

Target fixation and not having the confidence to throw the bike on it's side. Most of the time, the tyres we run these days will do the job and get you round.

It is having the mind to do it at the time.

I thought he could've used some counter steering to escape that. It just didn't look that difficult a corner (although I've noticed from my own vids that they never look as tight as they really are on camera). He seemed to enter it on completely the wrong line though, as if he tried to apex it too early - he seemed very close to the nearside wall. Maybe that was the result of having the wrong entry speed. But that still shouldn't have flummoxed him like it seemed to.

In the end, he just fkd up on so many levels, it would be hard to say which was his worst mistake. Buying a bike perhaps? Laughing

"It's 50 for a reason" to quote the signs on that road.

Can't say I was surprised given the way he was riding. At first I thought that other bike was his friends but then he was getting unnecessarily close and hustling it. Didn't need to overtake that 2nd bike there, could have waited a corner or two.

Pure target fixation as well, bike would easily have got round the corner. He's a lucky boy though, that car, the barbed wire or those boulders could all have done some serious damage.

It is one of the most "dangerous" roads in the UK for bikers though, always crops up in the Top 10 based on the different statistics.
