I thought that too!

The description says the bike had an oil leak which caused him to come off, maybe his dad was working on it and didn't screw the fairings back on or something?

I doubt it was an oil leak that made him come off. He was a bit feisty from the start, cold tyres and riding it too quick for his abilities.

It's common for the tank to come off as it just slots in at the front and one bolt holds it on at the back. So as soon as the tank hits the deck it usually breaks the mounting at the rear.

The rear panel has a hinge at the front then just a locking mechanism near the rear, again it's plastic and will just snap or pop out.

These bikes were designed to be taken apart quickly and easily, then they decided to make them into road bikes Wink

I can take my seat unit off in 15 seconds, tank same, side panels are 4 dzuz fasteners and 2 underneath. Again 15 seconds a side.

The mirrors have specially designed snap off bolts (just the one per side) so when it hits the deck the mirror bolt snaps, mirror is fine and sometimes saves the front panel from snapping.

Can't believe the video though how he just picked things up, chucked them on and went back. I thought he was gonna open the garage, chuck it in and deny all knowledge Laughing

It does slide before he hits the kerb in fairness, but it's probably also to protect is ego.

Any crash is always someone else's fault.

Oil leak = daddy had it in bits which is why (1) it spat oil all over the road when ridden and (2) it disintegrated like a packet of Ryvita when dropped on the floor...?

I call amateur.... I got up to {cough} speed on a dual carriageway with no sump plug, and only after the back end skipping out on 2 roundabouts I stopped (then realised it was the sump plug), but this was my back tyre when I stopped:

He seems to lose it just as he went over that metal drain cover, and an oil soaked wheel meeting a metal plate seems a viable cause.

Just looking at the vid again, I'm wondering whether the tank and seat unit was even properly attached in the first place or just resting on the bike.

Did he take it without asking his Dad or something as he would have said not to ride it in that state?

Fuckingggggggg ooooooops.

Least it was close to home and not miles away, and fair play that he paid to repair it all. (I'd have been inclined to burn it to the ground in some far away land and claim to my dad it was stolen. If he had TPFT that is.)
