Well what did everybody think of the BT coverage and the presenters? Personally thought Mel and Parrish are crap the rest were ok and coverage quite good.

I thought the coverage was fine, Mel and Toseland were okay. I liked listening to Toseland actually. Still can't get used to Toby Moody not commentating with Julian Ryder. Bit on the fence about Hodgson, not sure if he is trying too hard?

I thought is was OK. Give them a bit of time to gel and it will be fine. Much better than the BEEB and more on par with eurosport Thumbs Up

I liked most of it.

My gripes were:

1) The fact its one long 5 hr+ programme made it a bit of a faff to skip to just the moto gp bit having recorded it to watch later in the evening.

2) Why Melanie Sykes? No discernible bike knowledge, and was only vaguely fit about 10+ years ago. Cant see the point. Surely the female needs to be either knowledgeable, fit or both?

Chuckled when she asked Toseland "So what happens to the track when it rains?"

Meh, it was ok. Keith is a bit of a cock with constant mistakes but he'll probably improve as he gets more knowledge. However if he mentions Rabat testing at Almeria once more, I will find his shoes and shit in them.

Personally I find Toseland a bit of a personality vacuum and Sykes is a complete waste of space. Taraa from Qatarrr? Die in a coma.

I just leave it an hour then skip through all the shit. Thought Hodgson did an ok job as it goes, and Gavin Emmett in the pit lane is a good move.

I kinda see Garth's point. I find Toseland a decent, pleasant presenter, and he does have the experience to know what he is talking about, and was a regular at Moto GP races too.

I much prefer him Playing live in his band to listening to him commentate on Moto GP, he's much better behind the Mic with a guitar too!

I'm glad to see the back of Matt Roberts, he was bloody annoying, even more so than Parish and Cox, who were both senile and full of drivel.

I found the whole whole four days of coverage very enjoyable and thought it far surpassed anything offered previously by either the BBC or Eurosport (not including bsb & wsbk).
I guess that because of the extra time they have to play with BT can offer someting for everyone from the basic coverage of the bikes racing to good interviews and more indepth technical pieces.

As for the line up, I'm happy with all of them so far, I'm a fan of Hodgson anyway (from trackdays), Toseland has excellent knowledge and is likeable. Mel Sykes is likeable, and I'm sure as her knowlege and experience of racing grows she will get even better. You have to start somewhere and who are we to say she doesn't belong, for all we know she could love bikes.
The commentators were fine but I for one miss Steve Parrish though I do believe he will be involved in the week night show which follows the events.

All in all a very good start to the BT era, I'm sure over the season things will become a little slicker and less nervous so I for one am looking forward to a great season.

Thumbs Up

I found it too much like Eurosports coverage last year, i enjoyed the banter from the BBCs coverage - Matt and Crutchlow on the grid walk and Charlie Cox and Parish taking the p1ss out of each other, at least when it was on the BBC they got excited about the actual racing and personalties from the sport, Eurosport always seemed too focus on the technicalities and rules and if i had £1 for everytime they questioned the tyre degradation during a race i'd be rich.

I didn't mind Toseland, and thought Mel did a decent enough job, tho she clearly comes across as not having a clue about racing. I cant Stand Julian Ryder - cant put my finger on why, but he really grates my p1ss.

I thoroughly enjoyed the part where they kept telling the pit lane was quiet and that the bikes would soon start up.

Fingers crossed the next one will be better.

Even wifey thought they were presenting it like no-one had ever seen MotoGP before.

Watched the highlights on ITV4 on demand.

OK actually.

Rossi and Marquez were awesome.

I'm putting money on Rossi to win this season. 7/1. I'll put a £20 on that!!

Agreed. A few die-hard supporters of racing I know love Julian Ryder and I don't get why, he seems to have a massive condescending know-it-all chip on his shoulder. The man oooozes smugness.

Keith was alright, but strangely seemed to be trying to speak over Julian at every possible moment.....shit, or was it the other way round. I remember it took the first two races for them to stop doing it and one of them was definitely deliberately ignoring what the other was saying.

I like Hodgson for the most part, and thought he stood out of the BT Sport team.

But I really enjoy listening to Gavin Emmett. Would happily have him and Hodgson in the commentary booth.

Mel....can't say anything nice about her unfortunately. Watched the MotoGP 2014 preview show and cringed through her vids, especially when she draped herself over Bradley Smith's bike and then attempted to cradle snatch the poor lad, but he wasn't the slightest bit flustered. Her connection to bikes was "she'd always wanted to try it". Her dentures nearly fell out in excitement when chatting up Cal too.

The one massive positive from Qatar, was all of the above doesn't really matter. Looks like there will be plenty of racing in 2014 and MotoGP + the fans might get some more reasons to scream Rossi across the line a few more times. Marquez, Jorge, Pedrosa and Bradley could all provide cracking racing. 2014 could be a bit special. Smile
