Hi again guys. Doing my A2 test in about 1-1.5 months. Was wondering what bike to get. So it has to be restricted to 35kw (47bhp)

I was mainly thinking of a 4 cylinder 600 like a Suzuki bandit or bandit 650. But ive been offered a bike by a friend which is a Honda cbr 600f1 1990 model. This produces 93bhp so im unsure if it fits inside the restriction bracket or not.

Basically i just want to know the best bike to get. I really like the bandit 650. Should i get a 600cc, 500cc,400cc etc as i don't know how bad a restriction will affect the bike.

Something like a vfr 400, rvf 400 maybe. Cost isn't really a issue and i want the bike for commuting nearly every day but also for good fun on the weekends.

I currently own a 125cc so really looking forward to the next upgrade. How bad does the restriction affect the bike?

If i chose to get the cbr 600f1 which is 93bhp. Taking it to 47bhp id imagine would not be good for the bike. However the bandit is about 80 i think. I'm mostly set on the bandit around 2005 model which i think looks awesome but i don't want something that will run terribly.

I also want it to be more of a sports bike look not like a dirt bike or anything.
Thanks guys, Tyler.b

i was looking at bandits and Sv650's when i was going for my A2. Ended up with a 13 plate SV650S, which is restricted by an ECU, very happy with my choice although Bandit's are apparently very good choices too. No idea about the CBR though Sad Sorry

The cbr supposedly produces 67kw, which means yes you could restrict it. Although take Internet specs with a pinch of salt

As far as what bike to get, I rode an RVF 400 restricted for 2 years and it was absolutely fine. It was amazing to ride and made little or no difference to the bike until you hit about 105 then it didn't pull ad well, but would still go faster

But more importantly it excelerated well through the Rev range right up to 100 so it was great to ride. Few people I knew had cbr 600rr, gsxr etc and the rvf was faster than all of them restricted. Rvf s can get pricey but they hold there value, I paid £2500, had it 3 years and tripped the mileage, sold it for £2500 the day I put it up for sale

I don't know what the bandit is like to restrict, but most bikes seem to take it fine to be honest. Some are sluggish and slow (inline 4 600s from what I've seen) but doesn't seem to do any damage

Aside from whether you're allowed to restrict that down to the A2 limits, are you sure you can get an A2 restriction kit for a bike that old?

(Serious question - I have no idea, maybe you can, but given the A2 rules are still relatively new, I wouldn't be surprised if the kits available were targetted at more common, not quite as old bikes like the Bandit.)

They appear to be on ebay for £47 (with certificate so no need to bother Paddy for one!)
