Should do that to bike thieves here... or maybe allow all victims of bike theft to fire upon them with "less lethal" ammunition (i.e. bean bag/baton rounds) for days on end.

I think actually shooting them with baton rounds or subjecting them to painful insect attacks would fall under "cruel and unusual punishment"

They're "only" a 1.2 on the Schmidt Pain Scale, a scale of 0-4 of biting/stinging insects, 0 being not painful, 4 being completely debilitating pain.

For comparison, a yellowjacket/european wasp is a 2.0. However I know from experience that what a bite/sting is like individually has no relevance to what multiple bites/stings are like, and 3 days of being bitten is some serious torture.

I had the misfortune* of falling into an underground wasps nest, coating my right leg from ankle to knee with very angry wasps that took several minutes to completely remove, reckon I had in the region of 60-80 stings, and that severely fucked me up for the rest of the day, couldn't do anything except lie down in pain and mental exhaustion.

* I knew there was a wasps nest there, the intention was to stamp on the bit of grassy earth directly above it to shake the nest enough that most of the wasps would fly out and get hit by a neurotoxic insect killer spray we had. Instead, as I stamped, my foot slipped right off the top and into the hole, through the nest and thoroughly pissed the buggers right off.

They were lucky. There are ants in Honduras called Bullet Ants & apparently they are some serious shit - this from Wiki: 'The pain caused by this insect's sting is purported to be greater than that of any other hymenopteran, and is ranked as the most painful according to the Schmidt sting pain index, given a "4+" rating, above the tarantula hawk wasp and, according to some victims, equal to being shot, hence the name of the insect. It is described as causing "waves of burning, throbbing, all-consuming pain that continues unabated for up to 24 hours".'

The last bit sounds like it should be preceded by 'You have been found guilty of bike theft, therefore, I sentence you to...'
