Possibly down to slight rise in interest rates and that this year seen new liter class models opposed to 600 class?

It is reckoned that the drop may have something to do with the new type approval regulations coming into force earlier in the year which meant that dealers registered loads of their stock to keep their bonuses which in turn gave a false high reading at the beginning of the year, and now because of these new regs and the fact that it is taking longer to get them into the country it is simply a blip on the figures. Time will tell!

G sir,

There is a serious flaw in your logic. Motorcycle new registrations are down 44%! that means the other 56% went out and bought cheap slightly ratty bikes to hoon about on!

The country is in your debt for the example you have set us all!

I thought that "44% down" was measured against the number of new bikes registered in the same time period last year.

Undoubtedly second hand bikes sales are up am personally not surprised, although there are bargains to be had, new bikes ain't cheap and I think all the major manufacturers took the oppurtunity to increase prices in the 1000cc sector.

The R1 currently the top selling bike - obviuosly a lot of people with impeccable taste who ignore the dull colour schemes. Ducati seem to have the right idea - Bright red or yellow.

If you'd take your Daytona over a new R1 then you are indeed more mad than I first thought. Razz

Marjay - I only have the first in your list and don't even know anyone else that owns even the first let alone any of the others, so I don't consider myself as a stereotype.

Owning a less poular bike doesn't indicate the wisdom of your choice of purchase.

I am just someone who made an informed choice and wise choice in the motorcycle department.

So please don't knock R1 owners - Can so many people be wrong Wink

I also own a Vauxhall Vectra Laughing

Blimey,

Here's another blatant generalisation or two:

R1 owners take things too seriously.

R1 owners cannot be comfortable in their supposed position of superiority if they have to argue so vigorously against an old 200kg british 'shonker' ! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Marjay,

I can assure you that I took all your comments in good humour.

You were joking weren't you?

If I was at all offended I would have made derogatory comments about Triumph motocycles. Mr. Green Wink Wink

Each to their own and this is borne out by the wide spectrum of bikes represented on this Forum.

The next question baffles me...>

What is not a tarts bike? (sports bike wise)

It seems every where i go people are
blade = tarts bike
GSX-R = tarts bike

etc etc etc

So what is not a tarts bike?

---------------------------------------

Its a tough one, although i'm always for having something different, when something is so damn good, why would you want something that is different, when it is actually worse?

A Tarts bike is:

One that is shiney and new, with fancy showy components, and often is not ridden or used in the spirit in which it was intended I.E. it is used for posing.

OR

Any bike that has excessive anodised parts, non standard fake carbon fibre, screen trim, showy custom paintjobs, tireflies, neons, ICE, polished wheels/frame or any combination thereof.

A Gixxer isn't a tarts bike, a Gixxer with anodised pegs and bolts that is never ridden by a rider who has matching blue and white GSXR branded leathers and lid, is a tarts bike.

Capisce? Cool

Clearer, but even in stock trim, i hear people saying "tarts bike". Maybey it's because certain bike tend to get used for "tartiness", and consequently earn themself a reputation, or stereotype as being a tarts bike...if you know what i mean.

So i was just wondering what people though about which bikes are tarts bike...Obviously G recons that those bike, he quotes are tarts bike.

I wanted to know which ones aren't.

Ha ha TC someone's been reading his "Dealer News"!

For those who expressed an interest earlier, obviously it is much harder to keep track of how many second-hand bikes get sold, but the following table shows the top five search hits on Biketrader in May 2004:

1. Honda CBR600 49153
2. Suzuki GSXR600 31141
3. Aprilia RS125 28152
4. Yamaha YZF R6 26852
5. Yamaha YZF R1 25377

Right, I'm off to get my anorak...... Laughing
