Seen this for sale up the road from me. I wanted to get a bike to ride the plains on, so thinking about something like this. Anyone had any experience of the bike, any good? I'm not an experienced off roader, so wouldn't need anything too extreme.

It's very low mileage (1120) but is that a good price? How about resale value on it? My job can be quite unpredictable, so if I only ended up keeping it for a few months, would I be able to get decent money back?

Thanks.

I bought one start of last year for the girlfriend, 2010 model mint 700miles on it £1200. Thought for that money I couldn't go wrong.

In fact its actually laughably bad, never wants to start hot or cold, build quality is marginally better than a Chinese £500 special.

Starting trouble seems to be a known fault and ECU's have been replaced in Thailand but no recall here.

It's like a CRF250l - heavy and slow.

£1200 sounds rather low for one, so I wonder if the price reflected issues it had.

No way I'd spend £2.5k on one - get a DRZ-E for under £1500, XR400, old KLX250/300 and so on.

Looking at 250 s myself, no experience of the bike but over the last 2 weeks there's been multiple klx 250/300, wr350f etc going for around £1500

I own one of it's older, bigger brothers, a 1999 KLX 300R.
It's lively and it can be quite a challenge to keep the front wheel on the ground. It's solidly built and performs very well indeed.
Starting is temperamental but once it's running, it's well worth the effort.
I'm saddened to learn that the newer models aren't built so well Sad
You could, of course, save yourself some pennies and purchase an older model......You won't be disappointed.

I've seen these at the dealers brand new the build quality is crap, and as mentioned earlier I'd compare it to the Chinese offerings.

They older versions are much better built. As for price £1200 is cheap but they still only fetch around £1500 for a 2010 with a couple of thousand on the clock. Mental to think the guy I got mine from lost almost £5000 on it in under 2 years and 700 miles!

Just to balance things out a little for around £1500 you do get a fair bit for your money.

The engine is lovely and a well proven design

Its nice to have something that's new enough that its had no bodges from previous owners, all suspension bearings etc are tight, cables and controls are all lovely too. And all the nuts bolts and washers are the same and come apart.

The bike is basically the same all the way back to 1990ish with the exception of fuel injection and plastics

Apart from the starting trouble, plastics paint and graphics that fall apart in front of you the bike has so far survived pretty well on the lanes including getting wheelied up a tree lol
