How much you betting the copper won't get done for anything when anybody else would get raped in court?

It is sad news indeed but why should the copper be prosecuted?
we dont know the details of what happened.
IF the copper did something wrong then yes they should be prosecuted
but it may have been a mistake by the rider for all we know at this stage.

where in the article does it say the police officer driving the van has done anything wrong?

Pretty sure all police collisions go to the IPCC as a matter of course.

What if this lucky sod had been killed and the car was a police car?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26848603

would you prosecute the copper?

We dont know what heppened in Cumbria and its always sad to hear of any rider getting killed, but lets get some facts in before we string people up.

Looks like Cumbrian bikers are taking a right culling recently, Hartside will be empty this summer at this rate Shocked 3 died last Sunday alone, within 2 -3 hours of each other too.

First weekend in April, why would you expect anything else?

Stacking it into a Plodvan is quite boss though, points for originality.

Might be all year bikers for all we know. Regardless, it is a high number for Cumbria and the good weather hasn't even started yet. Fog seems to be starting to clear though, but it has been dire the past week. No way I'd go out on a bike in it, especially on a morning.

Going off topic a bit relating to police driving - whilst following a police car on the duel carriageway the other day, realised it was going some considerable speed, a good 20-30mph over the limit for the entire mile duration of the road. No sirens, no pursuit - as was highlighted by the fact it turned off into a KFC at the end of the carriageway Thinking

Is this legal, or was it some bad-ass kitten-killer cop Shocked I was always under the impression without sirens if the road is busy/an incident to attend police vehicles had to obey the same limits we do - hence reporting if they activate speed cameras mid pursuit etc?

Or would it be easy to get away with it saying they were 'following a suspicious vehicle' in any case.

It didn't, but even if they did it wouldn't go to court/be found not at fault.

Yes. Though the driver has to be able to justify why they were claiming any exemptions from the Road Traffic Act.

They're the police, they can do what the fook they like, despite what you may have been told.
They seem to be getting away with more and more as each year passes!
A cursory glance, after very little digging, at any branch of the media, will reveal, prescicely, what they're getting with, day in day out!

Don't mock. Had it not been for this thread, I would have gone out and done 170mph the wrong way down the M2 without wearing a lid.

Might have been time travelling space aliens from the planet Za'arg for all we know. I'm guessing not though.

Coppers, eurgh. Living near a police training college, I get to see the assorted midgets, nippy sweeties and diversities that pass for recruits these days driving around 4-up at 5mph under the limit, hands locked in a 10-and-2 deathgrip.

Then they get their warrants and suddenly everything's advisory. Speed limits, parking restrictions, priorities, signals.

Well, who am I to question their superior skill, training and judgement?

Why did the rider bail out of that one Thinking

Went too hot into the corner on the worlds worst line and didn't have enough skill to cope with it.

Humble apologies. Don't forget to wear your lid when doing 170mph the wrong way down the M2. Or, keep it to 165mph. You don't need a lid then.
