just replaced the seals in my front calipers, one side is all bled up an seems good, the other side (riders left)

i have bled the left side but the pistons dont seem to move at all - lever is rock hard

if i undo the bleed nipple im guessing this will release pressure but will it allow the pistons to move back?

an have i bled them wrong?

noobie mistake i know.....

First yes, loosening the nipple will relieve the pressure and let the pistons go back in BUT this isn't the problem.

That pressure should be going back into the master cylinder reservoir through a tiny little hole in the bottom that's uncovered when the lever is let out.

Could be blocked. Lever might not be going all the way back out.

well, an update

i stripped the caliper again, as i thought it may have been the seals. so took em out they looked fine (they are spanking new)

put everythign back together, greased the pins

started to bleed the left side, no bubbles are coming out, bleed the right side, but the lever is still squishy

im guessing there is air somewhere?

Hi

Is this on the Bandit? Are the brakes standard?

Assuming so, is the cap on the reservoir? Have you over filled the reservoir?

As Stinkwheel says, there is a tiny hole in the master cylinder which should allow fluid to go between them. As soon as the lever is pulled a tiny amount the piston moves and covers this hole. Some levers have adjusters which can land up preloading the piston slightly, blocking the hole, and some cheap pattern levers can do the same.

Also with the sliding calipers on the Bandit you need to make sure the calipers are free to slide on the pins they sit on. These can easily seize up.

EDIT - just read your latest post. Is it just no air coming out, or nothing coming out? The bleed nipples can get blocked.

All the best

Keith
