Do you wear a tinted visor? if so what do the rozzers think of it? ever been pulled and they didnt say anything?

Just bought a new lid and think it would look trick with an irridum visor but im unsure if its worth running the risk.

What happens if you get caught, could it mean points?

ive got 2 visors ones illegal ones not my black tinted one is allowed as its like a black film on the back so its classed as the second cover ( as long as your first line of protection is clear its legal) my mirror visor is illegal but looks cool on my helmet. No coppers have pulled me yet for it but i have spoke to them beofre and they havent mentioned my visor.

I've got a black visor which I use only when I know it's going to be a bright day - which is especially useful for winter riding as the sun is lower. I've never been caught out wearing it when it's not safe to do so, nor have I been stopped by the fuzz for having it.

If I'm going out and it's sunny and I know that I'll be still riding when it gets dark, I'll wear my clear visor with sunglasses under.

Other than that, it'll be the clear visor.

Hi

Got a black visor and a mirrored visor, both of which I use sometimes in summer. Not had any hassle with them at all.

By the way, not sure the black visor Firefox mentions is legal. Suspect if it is a black film then they will count it as a modification and that might invalidate its homologation.

All the best

Keith

oh when i asked when doing my cbt ect they said as long as your first line of protection e,g the visor was clear its legal so some new helmets have a tinted visor that slides up and down behind the first one i also got told the back film was legal to. But do not quote me on that im not being held responsible if you get in trouble Rolling Eyes

I got a genuine arai black visor. Had it years, Never been stopped for wearing it and I love it to bits. I fancied an irridium one but after realising that its just a very scratchable shiny coating on a clear visor I changed my mind.
Black is best.....

I think there's a certain tint you're allowed up to. The really dark visors that there is no chance of seeing your face are illegal afaik.

The seperate ones are definatly legal. You are pretty much OK with the inserts (although there was some recall of some of them a few years ago). Sticking something perminant inside the visor might cause problems with a particularly pedantic copper.

The legal level of tint is very limited.

All the best

As long as you don't ride like a twat, they wont notice it. Remember when i ran out of fuel on the M1 and the two coppers stopped me? Yep i had the black visor out when it was as black as the ace of spades - 8 o clock at night, no fuel, a newly acquired bike - they didn't pick up on the point.

I have a smoked and mirror visor. Been through a random stop check on my ped once with the mirror one, luckily got away with it as it was a very sunny day + i had clear one under the seat.

As said a couple of times. An iridium one but only worn on bright day. No problems at all.

Unless it is foggy, or dark, I'll use a black visor. I also have a legal grey tint which I use every now and again.

Personally I think if used with common sense, they are safer than a clear one. Oh, and they look much better Thumbs Up

Similar to a loud race can, a dark visor is not going to do you any favours if your stopped for speeding, but i doubt they'll pull you for it in particular.

I got a dark tint with my lid. I use it a lot, last summer i roade through 3 police checkpoints (large local event) with dark visor and race numbers on the bike. Got a few looks but wasnt pulled.
I'm going out on teh bike today and i'll have the tint on. I always carry my clear visor incase the weather changes.

Same as Jay, I have an illegal dark tint visor, if I ever do get questioned then I always have my clear visor in my visor bag thing around my waist.

I would say if a copper wanted to be picky then he'd question your visor but if you've got the clear one with you then you can offer to change it right away, I've never heard of anyone getting done for it.

Ive got a smoked visor on my lid. Its kitemarked, so as far as im aware that makes it legal? Never been on the road to be stopped i guess, but its not seriously IN YOUR FACE tinted, infact its alot easier to see out of than my old clear visor (which was scratched to fuck and protective film was peeling off). If the rossers do stop me, i simply just dont have enough money to buy a new clear visor, and with being the ancient Polycarb model helmet, visors are hard to find. I was thinking about getting a new Shark lid Cool

I have an AGV V-Flyer lid with its original clear visor, but also fitted with a Fog City Hyperoptik insert.
The Fog city is great for keeping the visor from fogging up during rain (as you'd expect), but it's nowhere near as dark as I'd like.

I've tried wearing sunglasses with the helmet, but yet to find any that are comfortable while riding.... so I'm looking at getting a replacement tinted or race visor, even if it means buying a new Fog City too...

I commute on a daily basis, and go for the occasional blast during my time off, and basically, riding towards the winter sun when it's low over the horizon is killing my eyes.

Any advice on reputable suppliers that don't charge the earth would be appreciated

My caberg has an internal visor which flips down like a pair of sunglasses, so it's legal.. I think. It does have "For daytime use only" printed on the bottom of the inner visor, though.

andy. urs looks like a lion getting raped.

Here's both of mine. I usually "forget" to replace them with clear visors when dark which is rather stupid! This is because the KBC can only be changed by removing the tricky sidepods.
