I always see people recommended Ninja's and refer to the specific model such as a G1, C2 or B1H etc' but i have no idea what these codes stand for, can anyone be arsed to explain it to me?

It doesn't seem as simple as Suzuki's version where K1 = 2001, K2 = 2002, K3 = 2003 or L1= 2011, L2 = 2012, L3 = 2013 and so on.

ZX9's are as follows...

ZX900 (1994)
ZX900B3 (1996) and ZX900B4 (1997)
ZX900C1 (1998) and ZX900C2 (1999)
ZX900E1 (2000) and ZX900E2 (2001)
ZX900F1 (2002) and ZX900F2 (2003)

Logically speaking, the letter seems to denote a 'major' change to the bike i.e.. a swing arm, frame or fairing change - something noticeable.

The numbers tend to be incremental changes such as the decals on the C2 being different to the C1. Carb changes on the C2 to prevent carb freezing.

Can't help on the other flavours of Ninjas i'm afraid Smile

Afraid, I only know the ZX6Rs from 2002.

2002 ZX636R - A1P
2003 ZX636R - B1H
2003 ZX6R (599cc) - K1H
2004 ZX636R - B2H
2004 ZX6R (599cc) - K2H
2005 ZX636R - C1
2006 ZX636R - C2
2007 ZX6R - P7F
2008 ZX6R - P8F

Hope that helps a little.

I don't know the years and things.

But on the ZX6R range, the F was mid 90s.

G1/G2 late 90s (98-99?)
J1 - '00 - '01
J2 - '01 - '02

Think that's kind of right Thinking

Only know the ZX6s for sure. To add to Wafers list - the 06's are quite often 'C6f' rather than C2, particularly if you're after parts and stuff.
