I had a test ride of the 899 Penigale today!

I spermed in my pants.

Work is going pretty well recently and I am very tempted to make an order and go for it. Got a wedding coming up next year but it is doable and the Mrs has given the thumbs up

Any bad points anyone knows of yet? best to wait a bit until any gremlins have come up and gone?

Jump in now before she sees a dress she likes and retracts her approval.

the old gremlins of dodgy electrics seem to be a thing of the past..
the maintenance regime does seem to be more in depth and costly..

If you have been given the thumbs up from the boss mate what are you still doing here? I would be down the shop before she had finished the sentance.

Is it suitable transport to/from a wedding? Wink

On topic, in my experience life's too short for "what ifs". Spend now, enjoy now, let any regrets start later. It'll be a learning experience (I've found I'm not Ducati shaped).

I am going to sleep on it. But I think I may be down to Ducati first thing tomorrow!!!

Just don't want to make the decision without at least sleeping on it

Sleep with it, simple.

I'd be down there now, ordering it. Laughing

Reason I haven't, I'm not buying a new bike. Fuck. That.

Nice but a panigale I saw that was a year old and ridden most days was rusted to buggary, for a year old bike with 6k miles I'd be pretty pissed off with it.

They don't like salt. The chains in particular seem to be shitty, a noted issue on the MTS also.
Otherwise no different to other bikes.

BvG review.

Discovers "race" mode.

Buys one.

Verdict confirmed: "Jizz factory"

I've heard nothing but good things, and in the white they look teh sex.

The BvG vid above shows the reservoir cap hits the screen, which would wear both doth eventually. Something to look at/mention at the time.

ACF-50, problem solved for minimal cost.

Also I had given up on fared bikes but the 899 is a sexy beast. I couldn't do it justice with my riding but I still want a go on one Laughing

Even with the rust, half painted sump covers, and the few odd looking fixings. I'd personally get one myself.

Have fun test riding again, and again, until you buy one.

Ask how much the belts and valves service is. Also get and extended warranty if available. The MTS1200 15000 mile service can be costly, seen quotes from £450 if no adjustment required up to £1000 if the valves need adjusted. Don't know about the Pan, just saying.

I'm seriously considering passing my test just to have one of these. I've always wanted a 748/916 and this is the only bike that has even made me think about changing my mind. Oh, and there's no question - white.

If you fancy buying brand new, I'd do it too.

I've always fancied a brand new bike, never had one yet.
