My Hornet 600 2004 model, is pulling to the left when I don't have my hands on the handle bars... is this a bearing problem?
Is there a way for me to check or find out the issue without taking the bike to the garage and spending money.

Any advice or words of wisdom is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Headstock bearings or a worn tyre. Misaligned wheels could do it too.

Twin discs? one calliper binding?
One fork leg lost a lot of it`s oil?, causing the bike on that side to try and sit a tiny bit lower?
New tyre not put on properly?
Frame broken somewhere?

Does it do it on all different roads? You're not just noticing it on one road, cos that could just be the camber.

Check tyres, tyre pressures and bearings, hopefully should narrow it to one of those fairly easily. If you're getting wheel off to change tyre might be worth pre-emptively changing wheel bearing anyway, depending on age and condition

Misaligned wheels .

This would be my first thing to check. I dropped an old bike in for a service once and asked, while they were servicing, to tighten the chain for me. I normally do it myself. I have no idea who they got to sort the chain out but by the time I got home I was aching in one arm and the bike kept pulling to one side.

The garage had tightened the chain by pulling the wheel back but only on one side. Took a while to get the wheel lined up again. Needless to say I never went back to them for a service item.

Are you sitting on it straight? Lots of people sit to one side. Looks really uncomfortable.

My vote would be for a binding caliper, happened to my Hornet.

Misaligned rear wheel did this on my T'Cat, after I'd adjusted the chain.

Shouldn't affect the steering though.

Funny you should say that, I noticed I was sat slightly to the left on mine the other day. I'm always super paranoid about my alignment being out so always changing how I'm sat which is how I noticed.

Wouldn't most bikes pull slightly to the left without hands on the bar anyway? The camber is always going to push a bike to that direction?

Wouldn't that make all single-disc bikes handle a little strange? Razz

I'm not sure if the suspension is adjustable, but if so, check if the left fork is set the same as the right one. Also check if the bars are alright and the frame straight. To check if the wheels are in the line just put a wooden board/plank next to it so it touches both wheels. This could be quite serious thing.

With regards to wheel misalignment being the cause of your problem, the cheapest way is a ball of string, although I personally prefer using two straight edges.

No. All but about 2 or 3 single disk bikes have the disk on the left to counter this.

I second this. Yesterday, I was doing a lot of riding around without touching the bars (different thread) and was noticing this until I slid over on my seat about a millimeter or two...

Try standing on your pegs a bit -- enough to lift your butt off the seat -- with your hands on the tank. If the problem goes away, it is probably just where you sit.
