What are you hoping to achieve?

Changing the head will make no difference to cc. The "cc" of an engine is the swept volume, which is defined by the bore and stroke of the cylinder and piston. To make bigger cc you need to make bigger bore or longer stroke (or both).

Why would you buy a 125 and then immediately want to increase it's capacity? Seems crazy to me unless you want to ride it illegally on L plates.

No Laughing

Either sell it and buy a bigger bike or make do with that one.

The XT125 uses the YBR engine. This would work, but is probably made with cheese

I thought that's what you were going to say. Read the wikipedia link I posted to familiarise yourself with what a cylinder head is.

Increasing cc is normally more expensive than it's worth, buying a bigger bike is a better idea. The only people who do it are ped boys, some racing teams and crazy old men in sheds...

Do this and post pictures.

I really want to see the end result of a flywheel lightening, conducted by someone who things changing cylinder heads affects the swept volume of an engine.

Well, perhaps you should start by asking the question that you want answered rather than in depth technical questions. I think you're getting ahead of yourself.

What you actually want to know is "Is there any way of making this bike faster?"

So are you on L plates or do you have a full license?

Are you sure that's true.
Sounds more like it's a stolen bike to me.

If it is true, you can sell it for a good bit and buy a proper off road bike, of whatever size you like.
A competition 125 will weigh less than your bike, have better suspension and make around 3x the power.

Your bike is made to be low powered but reliable and cheap to manufacture. It is not a good fit for off-road use where you don't need to be road legal.

Do you have the original receipt from a Yamaha dealer to the person you bought it from? (If not, how do you know it's "one owner"?)
If you do and it has also legitimate intact frame numbers matching receipt, then you could probably find someone that would swap it for a decent off-road bike.
Quite common for 17 year olds to want to swap their dirt bike for something they can use to get around.

Oh and yes - I've seen plenty of cases of people buying stolen vehicles 'with papers'.

Does it have the frame and engine numbers?

Have you got details of what it's original number plate was?

If it is all legit then like G say, you can sell it and get a much better off road bike for the money. Thumbs Up

Agree with all the sus sus stuff above!
But if it's an off roader only even though it's only a 10-11bhp engine, you need to down gear that mofo for riding off road. lower overall gearing will make it pull better, climb better and generally faster within the limitations of it's power to weight ratio.

If that aint enough, the get yourself a wet N2o Kit with a big bottle on the back! Thumbs Up
