So i've recently got another bike since being without for a couple of years. Started to get back into it and struggling to leave the fears go when cornering. Seems I am loose and hands lightly resting on the bars, the bike leans over to a certain point and my brain turns on fear mode which makes me grab on harder and fucks the rhythm of the bike up.

Few times today I had it nailed, I was leaning right into each corner with the lightest of touches to lean the bike and really feeling like I was trying to get my shoulder to touch the floor... but it only happens now and again and can't seem to keep a consitant comforable lean.

Don't know what to do to stop my survival insticts from kicking in and screwing up the line.

Any advice?

Probably just need a bit more time to get back into it mate

Try a few runs on roads you know very well, that way you know what's coming up and what go expect and won't get caught out. Should help you get your confidence back up and shake of the doubts in your head

The first stage is knowing why the survival instincts kick in. Once you know that you can prevent them from doing so. Watch the Keith Code Twist Of The Wrist DVD and you'll understand.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Yeah I'll have to watch that again. It's frustrating because I can feel the point where my brain switches over an I fight with the bike. Guess I'm quite rusty... I'll watch that when I get home.

....until a horsebox/tractor springs a surprise on you. But I get the point.

A quiet, large roundabout makes for a safer training facility for testing lean angle Thumbs Up
