So, its one month to the day since I passed my CBT and 3 weeks since I bought my bike. Feels like no time and all and forever all at once
I've picked up enough confidence to be able to ride through town and deal with traffic, yet I'm not comfortable putting the hammer down and getting out onto the open roads.
I think I let my heart rule my head somewhat with my bike, its pretty good but I reckon I could have done better - that said I now know how to take the carb out on a CG
Just idle rambling really... |

I'm gonna have a stab at Ditchling Beacon sometime soon, but that road gives me the heebie-jeebies at the best of times |

You passed your CBT a day after I did mine, and I have a CG125 too!
I love my little CG, and find it is fine on my 40 mile round trip country-road commute. Don't be afraid, it may just surprise you! 55mph is what it sits at usually, I've had it at 65, and the lowest it's really gone with wind and such is 50.
All in all, you'll be right up the arse of sunday drivers After the first few days when I got comfortable with the bike on those kinds of roads, I started getting very impatient with tractors/buses/lorries and Sunday drivers Maybe that'll happen to you too!
It's great fun though, definitely get out there!
(What was the issue with your carb?) |

Its the same with everything we learn that could kill us
Is there anything else you have done that is a bit risky? Gone down a black run skiing/snowboarding, done any skydiving/parachute jumps??
When I went for my first trip snowboarding with the army I put myself down for the beginner group as I had been taught by a mate in a snowdome and wasn't confident in my skills at all, within half an hour I had been switched to the group below the advanced riders and by the end of the first day I'd gone down one scary ass black run after the instructor tricked me into thinking it was a red!
Its def dangerous to over estimate our abilities, but under-estimating them can be just as bad with regards to holding us back.
I've not long finished my CBT either and took the bike (that I'm not confident in at all btw, sprocket cover lost its bolts and ended up in my bag on the way home!!) to work the other day down plenty of twisty country roads, just take your time, if I couldn't see the end of a corner I was just slowing down until I could and then getting back on the throttle on the way out of the bend, and it was bloody fun!
Just find some country roads, a dry day, and go for it, you'd be hard pressed to find something else just as fun that costs the £9 for fuel |
