Hmmm... i'll be checking ebay for ex-police bikes then. Laughing

You can buy Police bikes freely at auctions, with all the blue lights and everything intact, I've seen a fully kitted out recent Pan go for around £3,200.

If we all chip in together we could get a Police Pan, wouldn't that be handy for ride outs! Very Happy

When Dad and I went on a big military rideout (dad on a KTM 350, me on a Honda XL250, all ex-SAS) there were some guys with ex police pans. They were using all the blue lights and sirens all the time!

They had it well sorted, we didnt have to stop once, they were blocking off red traffic lights, making cars stop at the side of the road until we had all passed and just generally making sure everyone got through OK!

One of the pans was blocking off a roundabout junction to stop people entering the roundabout whilst the bikes were going round it when a transit van hit the pan, driver must have been bricking it!

It sold for £3200 on eBay - and like every police force in the country won't be looking out for it now!

Wasn't on eBay.

It was a dealers auction only, so they could afford to sell it with blue lights etc. as joe public wasn't there, and they can trust dealers to take the kit off.

I know someone who was selling a fully liveried BMW Police bike a few months ago for £1800, I was tempted but had no funds at the time, though I think it would be funnier riding a white Unmarked-Pan Euro (or BMW) with a white lid and his-vis jacket and it would make you look like a police man too and your fully legal too Very Happy.

By coincidence was chatting to a police rider the other night. I asked if it was worth considering getting an ex-police bike. Shook his head and admitted I didn't want to know how often they'd been thrown down the road. I don't think it was a wind-up but then I've never seen a police bike in an accident (at one yes, in one, no Confused )

My dad has an ex police K100. Its a tidy bike in excelent condition considering the number of miles it has coverd. All it needed was a respray and he has himself a very tidy bike for cheap Smile

I saw a police BMW bike hit the rear corner of a car which pulled out in front of it. Wasnt too much left of that car after half a tonne of small profile BMW had gone through it! Surprised

Did anybody else hear about that scheme where hey are getting civilians to drive police cars around to show a greater police presence?

I was riding into Central London along the A13 a few years ago when I saw a police bike hit the back of a white van. The van had braked suddenly at a pedestrian crossing and the police rider was too close and hit him.

I will say this for the copper, instead of ploughing straight into the van he did manage to lowside it and slide under the bumper instead. And I saw him get up so he wasn't (badly) hurt, although I can imagine he was mightily embarrassed.

Quite made my day.

Very Happy

What a sad git Rolling Eyes . I can't stand 'plastic policemen'. They bitch and moan about the police but secretly want to be one and watch all the police shows on TV.
I drive one for real and beleive me, the novelty wears off after a while.
