Here is how my bike started out, a mtx125 with bad second gear.

And here is the finished product, complete with DR200 front forks
and a mtx200 engine.

Thumbs Up

Haha, guess that plate can be confusing... I am in Thailand. There are quite a few MTX bikes here, and in fact there is a club for them.

Brilliant bike to start with, and now it looks even better and well done to you sir for finding a Big bore 200cc motor, seeing as they are like gold dust now!

I nearly brought a Yamaha DT125LC mk2 years ago with the same idea of finding a DT200LC motor and putting that in it. Would like to ride all the 200cc Japanese dirt bikes TBH, and one that I'd like to get one day is the Honda XL200R with the red engine!

Yes, the motor was not easy to find. There is a man here in Thailand who buys mtx bikes out of Japan, then has them broken and the parts sent here. I had to wait a couple of months, and paid about 400 us dollars for a low time motor that had sat for a long time. The bike is light, fast and fun. I am setting it up as a sort of pocket adventure tour bike. The bike is fine on the highway, and basically is a great off road bike when the pavement ends. Plus I like the roll on wheelies in third gear........

Nice looking MTX. Thumbs Up

But a stock MTX200 will never power wheelie in third gear unless it's heavily tuned or equipped with a smaller front sprocket. Of course you won't have any problems if you use the clutch or simply do power wheelies in 2nd gear. Laughing

I always wanted an MTX125 when I was 17, with the same idea, but never did it. Look at me, 'when I was 17' it was only two years ago.

I never wanted it for the power, apparently KMX was more so, never wanted it for reliability, there's the XL125R for that. But they look so damn awesome. Thumbs Up And I saw one once when I was on my MT5. I wanted the big brother immediately.

Do not really have any build photos, as the bike just sort of evolved over time. Modifications to the bike are as follows;
1. Changed out the front end to one froom a DR 200. The fork tubes need to be 35mm so then do not need to change out the triple clamp
2. Installed a small electric fan behind the radiator with a simple on / off switch. Around town never need to use, on long hill climbs off road it is needed or the bike will overheat.
3. Renthal bars put on, much better angle for the hands.
4. Re-foamed the seat, so much better for long trips
5. Made up some stainless steel rear brackets to keep saddle bags
away from the muffler.
6. Installed a RAM X mount for my iphone, and wired in a USB power supply for it.
7. Removed the passenger pegs as they are really heavy, and put on a pair of lightweight standoff rollers.
8. Aluminum rear rack made by me.
9. Wolfman tank bag

Engine was not touched, as it runs perfectly and has lots of power. I only made changes to the bike to make it more usable. It is a sort of collector bike, so really did not want to make it into a frankenbike with endless modifications...
