Ok, so here's the score...

I'm about to return to the UK after a couple of years away and I want to get a bike upon my return. I've had an NSR125 since I've been away and am looking for something slightly bigger (i.e. 600cc). Here are the criteria:

1) 600cc (or more)
2) In-line 4, but could be pursuaded to go for a V-twin
3) Sporty, sporty, mcsporty bike (i.e fairly aggressive looking)
4) Good for track days
5) But comfortable for riding a fair bit on the road
6) Possibly to be used once or twice for commuting across London to work
7) Pillion friendly
8) Easy/cheap to get parts
9) My bro has an R6 so should be able to keep up with that
10) I'm 6'2", so need it to fit my 200lb frame...

So far I've considered an R6, the CBR600RR and the Daytona 600, but I thought I would canvas your opinions. Cost doesn't matter too much, neither does new/second handedness, but I don't want it to be the object of a thief's desire, so as much as I like the MV Agusta FS 4 SPR, it's a no-no.

Answers on a postcard please......

Chuck.

You've chosen bikes that look nice, but are unlikely to do what you want:

I'd look at a GSXR600 if you want to spend money on a new bike.

Or the older style ZX636, the CBR600FS etc.
Try some of the new tarty bikes, but you'll probably find that they aren't that comfortable etc.
As far as keeping up with your brother or on trackdays; that's the rider, not the bike.
I never found much difference between my zx6r and my flat mate's r6.

Oh and remember to take it easy... 125 to sports 600 is a big jump, esepecially if you are trying to keep up with someone who has been riding a r6 for a while.

The 03/04 ZX6R is not very comfy at all, I took one for a test ride and my nuts were killing me, you feel EVERY bump!

On the plus side, you get to feel everything the bike is doing as well.

Gsx-r 600 SRAD. They are big (ideal for your built). Its a proper sports bike, so its wil have no problem keeping up with your bro and his mates. Can be picked up cheaply, ie 2500 to about 3500, before the K1 came in. It depends on how much you want to spend, i mean you say money is not an option, but pretty much all expencive bikes are desirable to thiefs... Come to think of it even cheap ones are. Shocked There are many about so spares should be ok.

A 600 will be enough power for you.

I wouldn't say it is "comfortable", you would have to sit/ ride one, its the best/only way to find out. It might be ok seeing as you are tall. Its probably not the best for commuting, but i do it on a sports bike and i live with it, its fun on the other hand.

Thats what i can suggest, although i dont know too much about other bikes. It seems like you definitly want a sports bike, by your desciption.

If you want some "in-between" bikes, a Yamaha Thundercat, of Hondas cbr600F. Good for riding fast, and commuting. Although not as goood for riding fast as a proper sports bike.

Thumbs Up

I'll add the GSX600F Teapot is very comfortable, a capable commuter/small capacity tourer, but not a balls out sports bike. Plus it looks weird (link to pic of mine in sig). I like it and it suits my needs. Thumbs Up Wink
