Does anyone suffer any food allergies....?

I am allergic to all things dairy & egg yolk. Sometimes the reaction is mild & I'll feel a bit sick and suffer (or rather others suffer) from bad wind; but often I get the full monty - swelling up, itchy skin, rashes and stomach cramps, sickness etc.

Its a nightmare avoiding all the things Im allergic to, you wouldnt believe what they put whey powder, lactose, skimmed milk powder, whole egg powder in - even sweets!!!!

Does anyone else have the same allergies as me? Or do some of you have it even worse.....?

Please share

Penicillin and cows milk.

The latter makes my life a misery on a daily basis, but the former could kill me.

Must get meself one of those SOS pendant things to wear. (been saying this for at least ten years now)

Shade - dont use cows milk then!
Use the Provamel soya fresh milk (Im not advertising it for any monies or loyalties to myself, for those that think I might be) I have tried and tested ALL available soya/milk alternatives and it is the only one I can eat my cereal covered in and in my tea or hot chocolate - it curdles in coffee though!

Call in on your way to/from Doro's one day and try it for yourself!

Avoiding milk as a liquid aint the problem, it's that fact that it is included in nearly everything edible that is for sale when I'm hungry that is the problem.

Hi,

Well, at the moment I'm suffering from hayfever. It's not life threatening but quite annoying. Unfortunately, my medication hasn't worked this time. So, it looks like I'll be suffering until September time.

Cheers,

Will

What's that?

I must have hay fever - most of the summer my nose runs like hell every morning. I am also staring to get allergic to work.

People at my work get allergic to all sorts of wierd things, - latex, mice, flies.... Laughing

Not a food allergy but I suffer from Hayfever and it wrecks summer.

For those of you who don't have this allergy...just imagine your worst common cold in winter and imagine it last for 3+ months.

As a biker think of sneezing inside of your helmet..not nice is it? Sad

Quote left in for relevence.

An SOS pendant (or bracelet), is a kind of locket you can wear, and has a long folded up piece of paper inside it. On here can go your GP, next of kin, any allergies, blood type, all sorts of things.

For anyone with something serious that paramedics or A&E staff might need to know in an emergency situation (like don't give me penecillin or you might kill me), you really should consider wearing one.

Washing up liquid. Squeezy brand, to be precise. Got a terrible rash from it, not just on my hands but all over my face from the 'fumes'. Won't be using that again in a hurry. Confused

Not great with pet hair and rape seed just makes my whole head run. Everyone in my family's been really allergic to shellfish, I've never actually tried any to find out if I am. Smile

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm allergic to dairy, but I'm not that tolerant of it - can't drink milk any more, don't even fancy it (drank loads when I was a kid), ditto ice cream and creamy things in general. Still eat a bit of cheese, but nothing near as much as I used to. Too much dairy and I just feel really sick. Only really bothers me when I fancy cereal - I tried assorted soya products but thought they were all pretty minging.

My eldest son is allergic to E numbers. Its been hell trying to find foods that do not send him doolally.

The list of what he can't eat is twice as long to what he can and the effects vary from never needing sleep to silliness and temper tantrums.

He's 20 now and still only needs one opal fruit/starburst and he's off his head.

Does that mean he can't drink Lucozade then? Confused

I'm alergic to this too. Didn't find this out till I got a part time job after school washing up. My hands were a terrible state. They haven't been quite the same ever since. Sad I should probably go see a doctor about it.

Hi

Nothing major. Found out that caffiene withdrawl gives me nasty headaches which are not affected by any headache tablets. I just try and avoid tea and coffee (fine with decaff ones, but I cannot tell the difference in taste), and also eat very little chocolate.

I get something like hay fever. I always thought it was hay fever, but it starts early in the year and goes on for ages. Hay fever tablets work but I am not keen on taking tablets unless I have too. Then found out that soap causes most of it, and if I just use cold tar soap then the "hay fever" is virtually eliminated.

All the best

Keith

@Kickstart, they are primarily known as "hayfever tablets" but they are just allergy tablets. Once I came up in a rash...the doctor prescribed me some tablets...collected them from the pharmacist and they turned out to be same pills as my hayfever tablets. Smile

people think i'm so weird when i say "i'm sorry i cant eat the icky yellow, orange and green fruit pastels, can i have your tasty purple and red ones instead?" Laughing

infact i don't bother buying fruit sweets because i know i cant eat most of the contents of the packet because they're mainly lemon, orange or lime Rolling Eyes

When I was a kid, I used to be hyperactive and parents and grand-parents would do all they could to keep me away from food, especially sweeties, containing e-numbers!!! My aunts and uncles though (who were only a few years older than me) thought it funny to stuff me full of sweets and watch me going loopy!!!! Evil or Very Mad

Now-a-days, even if I eat a bag of skittles, you'd swear I'd took a line of speed Laughing Not exactly a bad thing (I don't think so anyway)
