... Is it possible? I have my x-rays at home from breaking my leg, and the break is quite cool, so I want to scan them into the computer. But will this damage them? I wouldn't ask but I found out they cost £20 each to the NHS so I don't fancy destroying them.

They let you take the only copies of your X-rays home with you? They'll do copies of them which you can then have for £10 each, but they won't let you take your x-rays away with you, just like you can't take your medical notes home with you.

Confused

I'm in the Army so I need to keep them as not only do I have check ups at a civilian hospital but I also go to military hospitals so it is easier for me to carry them around then to have the NHS forking out for special deliveries every two weeks. Laughing I'm a special boy Rolling Eyes

Scanning them won't damage them.

The pins were holding my wrist together and went right through the bone.

You should be able to scan them fine, think of them as a giant photo negative (which they basically are). Best to put a piece of white paper behind them when you scan them as the inside of your scanner is probably quite grubby and it will show through when you scan it.

Kev, that is almost exactly the same fracture and repair I got when I threw my jawa combination down a ravine. I went one better by snapping the end off the ulna as well though.

Should be fine, but you might need a scanner that is designed for doing negatives as well as ordinary stuff. These usually have a lamp in the lid so that the negative is lit from behind.

Doh, they're wanting to hang onto all the x rays and CT scans of me for future outpatients stuff. Will have to try to get a hold of them once the hospital don't need them anymore as I could piece them all together to make an x-ray photo of me. Smile Laughing
