You HAVE to get a race can. I put an ART race can on my cbr400, wow, it sounds about 20 times better. Loud with a nice rasp, growl to it. Hard to explain, but trust me you will not regret it.
Stock cans, are laughable in comparison.
If you put a race can on, you will need to get it re-jetted or at least set-up on the dyno to see if it needs the extra fueling. Mine is to be done soon...
Oh yer and they look nicer, but i care more for the sound .
Check whether yours is slip-on or bolt-on fitment, before buying. |

Ah right, the Scorpion can on my vfr sounds well. The backfires in French tunnels on the weekend were very nice, didn't need my headlights |

I'm not sure yet, I haven't bidded though.
I was hoping everyone would say it was rubbish so I wouldn't need to spend any money. ____________________ TT600 neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeowwww! |

I recon that genrally that anyone with a sporty machine (be that car or bike) tends to be in favour of a loud(er) sounding machine.
I mean all this business of tuning, styling, and the other asthetics as you mentioned is all the modificating of a machine to be similar to proper racing machines. This may explain why sports bike riders would want a loud exhaust. If you know what i mean.
The issue of loud exhausts on cruisers, jeeze you can get some loud cruisers!!! It depends on what you want from a bike i suppose. Some people may want a suble machine, some dont. Cruisers suck anyway .
I dont mind either loud bikes or cars, and i think some people, the objectors should realise that is just a bit of fun. Is that the end of the world?
This may sound like an unjust justification for loud cans, but i have definitely noticed that car driver notice a loud bike sooner, which can only be a good thing.
Sorry to drag on, but anyone that cains a bike in town is not very responcible anyway. In town i keep the revs down (most of the time) . But i have so say, a degree of consideration is neccesary. But this degree of consideration can "make" a good rider. It shouldn't need to be flat out all the time...
I'll shut up now, gotta ride out to the gym. |

To get back to that specific can though - I had exactly the same one, colour n all. Dirt cheap, looks fine and good sound. Cheap is good - it's best for track days when you might bin it (the reason I now have the original can on again....need to get another cheapie race can). ____________________ www.bikegirl.co.uk |
