An earlier post by Mikesaa309, where he gave his dad one ( Wink ), has had me thinking.
About 8 years ago a friend of mine ran into the back of his father in law!
Now I thought at the time just how improbable this sounded but I suppose that if you're travelling in a group and have a dozy behind you when you have to brake hard then it is probably not that an uncommon event.
So if like Mike you've given a family member one, or even a mate, do tell. I'm curious to know just how common this is. Laughing

My OH did it to me many years ago. We were travelling from Durness to Scrabster to get the ferry across. I pulled into a passing place on the single track to allow an oncoming car through, she was boggling at Ben Loyal. She put an interesting dent in the offside silencer of my R100RT with the nearside downpipe of her R65. She was mortified. I still remind her of it from time to time... Laughing

I had a young lady ride into the back of my cb500 about 10 years ago, precise shot into my chain adjuster which went straight through her front tyre.

An aquaintance of mine, who is a journalist for a popular monthly motorcycle magazine, crashed into the back of his (now ex) wifes motorcycle because he was distracted by looking at another motorcycle.

My friends and I now referr to the act of crashing your motorcycle into the back of a second motorcycle becuse you were distracted by a third motorcycle "A full Partington".

I was riding with a few friends of mine when i had my first B1h, the fork seals where leaking which found its way on to my front brake pads.

After a spirited ride we were riding through town when those in front broke sharply and i just couldnt Laughing

I diverted to the side of the RSV in front but just caught his rear end with my clutch lever.

No damage on either bike, we laughed it off and i got my fork seals and pads changed Smile

I rear ended a friend a few years ago, we both ended up on the floor.

I was following obviously, parked car on our side and a blind corner ahead with a car coming round. I Was watching the car, which I could tell was slowing or stopping to let us pass, so I didn't think about braking, unfortunately my mate did not notice and stopped in front of me

Mu fault for not watching him enough and looking ahead, lucky we were only doing about 15 mph

Also been behind a few friends who had a pile up at a roundabout for similar reasons

I thought only cruiser riders rear-ended each other, but only when they are wearing leather chaps.....

Almost did it after having my first geared 125 for a few days Rolling Eyes got preoccupied with watching the rev dial and almost failed to see my mate in front braking swiftly as soon as the amber light came on.

Result was I locked the back wheel and skidded up alongside him, just Embarassed

Lesson learned.

A number of times it has nearly happened following a mate of mine - can just never work out his riding style because one minute he's plodding and the next he's gunning it. Gun it with him and he backs off and you're caught out.

Most notable was an overtake on a tight country lane - went past in behind him and he backed off before I had time to complete the overtake - had to ride around him and in front to avoid being squished

Very rarely ride with him now, too stressful

It wasn't a hit but during CBT, I was leading, behind me was a noob to anything motorised (nice enough guy though). I slowed to a gradual stop for a Zebra crossing and heard over the radio:

"WOAHH... Fuuc... You've hit him? You've nearly hit him!"

Looked in my mirror to see WTF had just happened, and his front wheel was alongside and a couple of inches to the left of my back wheel Laughing

Rest of the ride was a bit unnerving! Very Happy But instructor was giving good advice and making sure he kept his distance and concentrated on what was ahead after that Thumbs Up

With my first Bandit 600 I had no mirrors and made up for it with shoulder check so ended up in the back of my mate on his GP100 once when he was turning into what appeared to be a clear junction.

Just last year in August Sirdash95 (he posted on here all of twice I think, something about his Vlogging incurrred the keyboard rage Razz) smacked into the back of me at about 30 as I slowed for a 90 degree corner, smashed the back end of my VFR to bits but my rack saved the majority of it, his CBF got scuffed and bent forks (also left him on the floor unconscious for about a minute and reopened wounds from being run over by a truck earlier in the year so I figured no need to kick his head in).

Learned how ill thought out incorporating the brake light and indicators into the tail section fairing is on the VFR Rolling Eyes

At Stormin last year (with my patented wooden brake light retainer device Thumbs Up)

https://i1211.photobucket.com/albums/cc425/8Moxey8/Stormin%202013/IMG_0436_zps7a0c0d19.jpg

Still he paid for new tail section and encouraged me to make some adjustments to the VFR whilst I had it off the road.

Oh yeah. I had another mate crash one of my bikes into the back of another one of my bikes.

I'd loaned him my GPZ500 to go to a rally becuse his was on the blink. A car up ahead signalled his intent to turn right by slamming on his brakes. I stood my bike on its nose and stopped a couple of inches off his bumper. My mate overbraked, lowsided and parked the front wheel of the GPZ500 sideways between the tyre and rear subframe of my MZ.

Snapped off everything on the GPZ above the level of the top yoke. Meh, it was ratty as fuck to start with and had been painted a disgusting colour.

I readily admit I'm not a quick rider Laughing, why do you think I aspire to own a NVT 600, Enfield 350 or a W650 Razz.

Friends brother ran his R1 into the back of another friends '74 Z1 at the stop sign. Barely walking pace.
Z1 suffered a slightly bent license plate
R1 required multiple fairing pieces, about $800 worth.

20 years ago, on my CBT, ran into the back of my instructor. Was momentarily distracted by a miniskirted, leggy, blonde.

For some reason, my instructor at the time wasn't amused.

On my CBT the instructor ran into (over) the back of the other pupil, who had stopped rather abruptly after clipping an oncoming car.

My mate had not long bought his GSXF and we were sitting at traffic lights when I noticed he was sitting there with his clutch in so I assumed he was in first gear.
I just gave his rear tyre a little nudge to wake him up but he shit himself and stalled the thing.
Not recommended but funny as fook. Thumbs Up
