Hi,

Looking for a new pair of boots. Any recommendations? Only want to spend around £100 as my £40 pair were brilliant but were only ankle high.

Seen some spadas locally and also sidi? But £200ish. Also Dainese st giro st.

Also gloves, I'm sure I have read on here don't buy RST gloves or a certain type of their range as they fall apart at the seams. Can anyone vouch for this info?

Thanks.

I have reccomended my boots a couple of times on here. TCX Jupiter (Gore-Tex). They're not long boots (come up a couple of inces above the ankle). But they, so far, have not let any water in, are very warm and feel pretty sturdy and well protected. I think they were around £140 when I got them; however, you may be able to get them cheaper now.

As for RST gloves, I have been using my £25 pair for the past 3 years. They're ok as far as budget gear goes but they're not really warm enough for a really cold winter and they start to let water in during very heavy rain. But they were only £25 (and you could probably get them cheaper now) so I don't complain too much.

Thanks for your reply mate, do you or anyone else have anything good to say about the Sidi Cobra boots, Dainese st giro st or the Dainese trq face out boots?

Rather expensive but want them to last ages so its worth the extra money.

Thanks.

My Sidi boots (not sure which type) are crap, falling apart after less than a year. Holes in the soles, and the tow sliders are starting to fall off.

I wouldn't bank on more money meaning more life - on most of my boots its the sole that gives out first, and thats been totally random and not related to price with the majority.

Ideally i'd try buy used to be honest can get some real bargains on ebay - i've had near-new boots that RRP for 200 quid for around 60 two or three times off ebay.

Currently i'm using these which are 60 quid new and am very happy with them - little less spaceboot'ish to walk in and look at than most race boots but still give full coverage protection wise.

My last boots were Black Venom from Ghostbike. Not waterproof but under your price range and they were pretty comfortable. I had them for around 2 years, which is good for me as I am heavy on footwear.

My current are RST Tracktech waterproof ones, £130 from most places. Needed to get a size bigger but they are comfortable and so far in the one shower I was caught in, waterproof.

Any good shops please do recommend them to me.

Thanks.

I use some Alt-Berg Peacekeeper Aqua boots - they are great as the are comfortable off the bike as well. Very durable and only cost £100.... possible down sides are that they don't look like bike boots so if you like to be a tart they may not be for you....

If you have a J&S near you then that is a good place to start as they have a vast range of makes and styles.

You don't say what sort of boot you are after but what I've had is:-

Diadora Eagle :- These have been a great sporty sort of boot, comfortable and still in good condition after 3 years though I don't doo great mileage.

Alpinestars SMX Plus :-These are my new boots so can't say how they will last. These are track boots and aimed at sport bike riders and used by many racers. So far these are great boots, comfortable and good fit.

Thumbs Up
