Weather seems to of improved further again - Friday is mainly dry for us from Poole-Bristol-Tremadog.
Although just when we're due to arrive/setting up tents between 4-7pm is when the weekends only heavy rain is due perfect timing |

Okay thats fine, i've let them know I expect the majority of us to arrive around then; just wanted to check in case anyones arriving majorly early so I can let them know and they can keep track of the group and where we get put.
About to commence packing. Think I might look at getting an air-bed too for a bit of comfort for once, hopefully I can fit it all on |

That's because I just laid out for new Goretex boots
Still, can't knock it
Except that I've also arranged to have a new rear tyre fitted first thing Friday morning on the way - will this alter the forecast again? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I'm going with my tankbag in its waterproof-jacket regardless of weather don't trust the forecast to risk a sudden downpour drowning all my electrical stuff. Knowing my luck it would be the least of potential things that would destroy my travel-items |

Yep, hills make their own weather, and often unpredictable at that. Plan for the worst, hope to enjoy the best! ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Well, I've just spent forever looking for my waterproofs.
Most of my stuffs still in bags and boxes since the move and I haven't bothered unpacking as this place is only temporary and I've only just finished moving it in here from the storage place, as I've been doing it in dribs and drabs.
Went through all the bags first....nope, they're not in any of them.
Went through every one of the piled high boxes....nope, not in any of them.
Just about to give up and was thinking that I must of left them behind in the Isle of Man, when a little light came on in my head...of course...I put them in the cupboard where the gas boiler is when I moved in.
Such an obvious place
I'm debating whether to do an oil change tomorrow, though it's not really due for another 700 miles, so might just check the level and top it up if needed.
Does anyone know if it'd be okay to top semi synthetic up with fully synthetic? My bike runs on either but, last oil change was semi synth and I only have fully synth at home. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

Might as well do it after if its not due, probably be near the recommended mileage by the end of the weekend too, if all goes to plan
Funnily enough ive lost my waterproofs too . Have my bike one piece but nothing to wear about the campsite, dont fancy sitting in my michelin man suit all evening friday
Waterproofs, camp bed, chain lube all need to be urgently bought tomorrow, whilst finding time to pack! |

I'm just taking the bare basics tbh, not sure how much I'll fit on the R. Jeans, pair of boots, socks, skids and T-shirt should do me on top of the camping gear and waterproofs.
Looking forward to this. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

^^^You might need a trailer.
Very good on being organised though
I,on the other hand, will probably leave everything till the last minute, then start panicking and getting stressed because it's all going horribly wrong. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

If you can get to a store tomorrow - Go outdoors sell them for not too much, mine are from there, very light weight but totally waterproof. An L-size will generally JUST fit a sleeping bag - an XL size will comfortably fit one and probably fit most reasonably small tents, i'd probably go for XL's for the little extra to play it safe.
I think sports direct sell them too but not sure on the sizing or if they stock any big ones at all. Most other camping/sports shops have them but they're often very expensive ones aimed at 'serious kayakers' etc [not that they seem to actually be any better ] |

Let's hope we're not Kayaking down the road to Wales then.
Aye, I've noticed camping shops seem to have most things overpriced. One of them wanted 4 quid for two small bungees. I managed to get a pack of 10 for just over a tenner in B&Q, much bigger too.
Not sure I'll have time tomorrow to get to the shops, so I may have to improvise with bin bags after all. ____________________ There ain't no devil, there's just god when he's drunk.

Double wrapped tightly in binbags will be just as good to be honest, doesn't even take much longer to pack up really - I always bring a roll of binbags/sandwich bags to waterproof stuff in case anything leaks
Also, if anyone is bothering to bring a hefty mallet along for pegs - one of these works great and fits nicely in the tent bag - spanner end for whackin' in, hoop end for pullin' out
