Is it possible, or dangerous to do this? I currently have a quill exhaust on my DL 650, and I feel like the noise is going to become tiresome after riding long distance (we're going touring around Europe in the summer) and was wondering if I could fit a db killer in an exhaust which already has an inbuilt baffle.

I 'believe' the exhaust is the Quill T3

Didn't think my T3 was very loud but anyway, not sure I think it would be a ball ache to be honest.

Thought about ordering a standard can off eBay ? Just fit that for your long trip? Will be quiet, cheap and easy

I do wear earplugs, the Howard Leight MAX ones, but I still find it gets through too much. Perhaps I need to shove them in farther, I just watched a video on the howard leight website and it says you should pull your ear upward as you're putting them in.

I probably just have a lower tolerance of noise, I quite like quietness. Perhaps I've chosen the wrong mode of transport for quietness ;p

In regards to ordering the standard can - I seem to remember the previous owner saying they had to graft it on for it to fit or something, so I'm not sure it'd be as clear cut as it could be.

I would have thought that adding an extra baffle would increase the back pressure and have a detrimental effect to the power.

EDIT: There's the option to just ride faster away from the noise! Wink
