I was not sure if I should have posted this here or in the workshop.

I am thinking of carrying out the usd fork conversion on my 97 600 bandit. I know this has been done loads before but does any forum member have any personal experience of converting a 600?

I have been researching on the net and most posts I come across refer to the b12.

I'm just looking to get my head around it a little more before I start to collect up some parts.

I've been told that a mk 1 b12 stem will slot into the mk1 600?

So does anyone have any advice to offer or have you done this kind of thing before?

Cheers
Grim

simple really.

reuse the current stem.

press stem into whatever front end you are using.

best option is to get a complete front end from something then all you have to faff about with are the lockstops.

gsxr 750L or M are the easiest but perhaps not as sexy as a later K series front end.

If you want to reuse the wheel then the L or M is easiest.

Bear in mind it'll barely handle any better as the front is going to be shorter so it'll tip in easier. My 1200 has a 750 front end in and it is barely noticable.

Kind of pointless really. There are always loads opf modified 600 bandits for sale and they always end up going cheap as nobody wants a bike that looks quick but is slow. It's your money mind. Save the cash and buy a 1200 Smile

Thanks for that guys. I will have a read up and decide if I really want to go ahead with the conversion or not.
