Hi there basically the problem is that it will crank over feels like it's cranking over slowly the battery quickly dies but then when bump starting it starts straight away

I'm thinking of buying a new battery as this may solve the issues I'm also considering somewhere in the back of my head valve clearances.

I was looking at motobatt but they are £50, cheaper Chinese batteries are £18

Will a motobatt fix my problem? (Current battery 5+ years old) Other than that the bike is running very well

Is it worth the extra £30 quid?

I'd avoid cheap batteries.

My CB-1 can be a bit finniky when starting. I leave the choke off unless it's sub zero temps, and just a tiny bit of throttle when turning over. It starts first time every time like this but not if you open the throttle more or use choke.
Are the plugs new? What's the air filter like? Also, check the fuel pump solenoid points, they get ignored. One more thing...there's a sub air filter....a tiny black box behind the main air filter. Over time, the element degrades and turns to dust. 'best to get this out before it ends up in the engine.

The plugs look good and at 9 pound each I'm a bit reluctant to replace air filter looks good. Fuel pump isn't in the bike was removed by old owner so is gravity fed I'm considering reinstalling the fuel pump as was given to me with the bike.

Other than that it's a great bike
