Have found a problem with one of my lighting coils but the only ones I can find are quite expensive. I was wondering if anybody knew a cheap place to buy one from. Any help would be great thanks.

Thanks Rob Ffs. The problem I've got is when I turn the headlight on the battery wont charge but is fine when just the park light is on. Does us sound like this could be the problem to you as I have looked at dome of your stuff about the x5 and you seem to know your stuff. Any advice welcomed.

you might have better luck looking for X7 bottom coils as they were a much more common bike, have you checked you the reg, rec and battery for faults. I have an old X7 buried at the back of the workshop so will check if it still has the bottom coils tomorrow and get back to you.

Thanks for the reply guys 170 is way over budget I'm afraid but if you can find some coils that's great. Yes I got a rec/regulator of an x7 and it seems to be ok. It's just not charging the battery when the lights are on. I've checked for shorts etc but have not found anything untoward. Will keep looking Neutral

I'd give rewinding a go at home. If the coils are 100% knacked then you don't have much to lose. You can get a big reel of magnet wire on ebay for 20 quid or so. I'm sure there are rewinding guides on youtube etc.

I always pondered it on my RXS, rewinding the lighting coil with double the turns of thinner wire to make it 12V.
