Brain Fart Crash

Quick write up on my very exciting (stupid) crash last Friday for anyone who's interested/wants to feel better about themselves.

So, after owning the RXS for about 2 weeks, I had my first crash on it the other day. It was also the first crash which actually resulted in injury. Very exciting.

I'm more annoyed in myself than anything else as the incident probably could have been avoided with relative ease to be honest.

Come to the top of a rather steep hill and wanting the get up to speed and out of second gear as I really feel sorry for the little engine when it has to be screamed up a hill like that. After the hill there's a fairly sharp corner with a grassy area to the left.

I realize too late that I'm going faster than I should be and consider just leaning into the corner further but notice gravel on the road and remember how amazing the 1 inch wide RXS tyres are so opt instead to ride into the overgrown grass area.

I'm going way too fast for the grassy area and think my front wheel must have hit a ditch in the ground below the grass and I fly through the air and out of instinct throw my hand out to break the fall (very silly) but instead break my wrist (as found out in hospital later on )

The bike isn't too badly damaged (bent headlight brackets and severed tacho cable). I also managed to collect some of the grassy area on my bike:

You never, ever bail out of a corner, always try to make it even if there's only a 0.01% chance Seriously, unlucky man, hope you get better soon. At least you had something soft to land on (not that it helped.. much) & now you know the RXS makes a pretty good lawnmower! Send land owner a bill for your services

I've had a few close calls on bends (once ran into a kerb at a large roundabout because I did not turn enough) at a little faster than they should be taken, but I've never had myself come off to it.

Sucks about the wrist. GWS.

I had a very similar crash on one of my first bikes, complete with superman impression as a finalé. Unfortunately it'd been raining, the ground was mud and I had my visor open. My helmet scooped along the ground like some sort of dredging machine and every available cubic mm of space in my lid was ram-packed with mud.

My mate pissed himself, as is obligatory in those situations.

Don't worry about the rxs, after I crashed mine I returned it to it's original form with a lump hammer. Shame about the wrist though.

You have to plan ahead of your forward planning where rxs100 brakes are concerned.
