Couple of MOT history questions

Just wondering what would the reason be for a bike to only have test history going back to 2010 and no earlier?
Also. Checking another bikes history, in 2008 the reg plate had changed from a 2002 plate to another 2002 plate (not a custom reg just a different 2002 plate). What reason would there be for that?

No i mean when going on here:

Inputting the vehicles details and it only shows MOT test history going back to 2010 no earlier. So i can only view the test outcomes for 2010, 11, 12, 13 and this year.

And i suppose that makes sense, that could only be the reason really.

When did the computerised MOT come in?

Just been on the site, it says 2005 onwards.

The other alternative is that the bike wasn't actually MOT'd and sat in a garage somewhere...

My car is a 2000 model, I can only see MOTs back to 2007

A lot of bike mot places didn't change to computerized untill they really had to, possible that some were still on the old type hand written cert in 08, but at a guess it has just not been mot'd and sat somewhere for a few years.
the reg thing is just someone liking a plate with maybe their initials on for instance one of our customers has a "V***JAD " on their year old car as the JAD is his missus initials , everyone else wonders why he has made his car look old .

Fair enough. The bike with no mot history has sold now but it was at a suspiciously cheap price anyway so I may have dodged a lemon.

If you have the old test certs they will show the mileage, I always keep the old certs which makes life easy when I decide to sell.

How old was the bike?

Remember, you do not need to get a vehicle MOT'd until it is 3 years old, so might if it was a 2007 model, the first MOT would be 2010.

Alternatively, if it was an import, you do not need to get it MOT'd until 3 years after the import and first reg date, so a 1997, european VFR imported in 2007, would not need MOT until 2010.

And are you 100 % on the import mot? Not saying your wrong but My rvf was a 97 imported in 2010 and certainly needed an mot each year, was pulled once for not having any

It was 99 reg. Someone bought it on eBay and 4 days later I've just seen the exact same bike on preloved in a different area for £600 more
Fair play someone is trying to make a cheeky profit but I'm adament it has a shadey history.
