First tour, Snowdon with a small walk!

Hi,

Just looking for some advice. I've never toured on the bike before and in July a friend is having a surprise 40th on the top of Snowdon. I want to treat this as an opportunity to get out on the bike around north wales. 

My current plan is to:

ride down early saturdy morning 
get sorted in a camp site
have lunch
Go for a ride
Back to tent for the night
Ride to Snowdon railway station
Up the mountain for the party
Back to the bike
Ride home, or
Back to tent, stay the night
Ride home the long way round taking in some more roads on Monday

I was wondering what people thought about riding to the walk, walking up and riding back to the tent or home. I'm fit and strong at 32 but it's a hell of a walk.

This is only 15 miles from the railway station on Snowdon. 

Just looking for some advice and your thoughts on my choices really. Some road recommendations would be good too.

I ride a sprint ST1050, I have a top box and a 52litre joffama bag comeong courtesy of eBay.
