Did you check out either, or Google Bikeonic or whatever he's going by these days?

Haha I knew you were going to say something like that, I'm newer to Internet forums than motorbikes so forgive my stupidity haha

If the bike is in his name and he hasn't sent off the v5, then 1) he's committing an offence and 2) he's liable for any parking fines the bike racks up.

Any double yellows round your way?

I wouldn't stress over it.

Block his number, write to DVLA (Swansea, SA99 1BA) and tell them that Vinny is the keeper of the 1st bike, and (if you don't get a new V5C after a few weeks) that you're the keeper of the 2nd.

Why wait? This can all be done online now here:

https://www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle

I have used the service several times to inform the DVLA that I have sold a vehicle and that I have purchased one.

V5 arrived a few days later on the occasion that I purchased a bike - surprisingly quick!

As for selling - it must update almost instantly, as their system updated the tax status of a bike I had sold to "Un taxed" when I checked it a minute after I had informed them of me selling the bike via their online system.

Only snag is, it only works Monday to Saturday 8am to 6pm.....

So first thing Monday morning, I know what I would be doing!

Because:

1) You can't use that service to tell them that you've bought a vehicle.

2) To tell them that you've sold it to a trader, you need the reference number from the V5C/3, which OP almost certainly doesn't have.

M'kay?

If he has the main V5C for the new bike. Which he won't have, just the V5C/2 "green slip".

This is correct. Take the first digit off the Green Slip reference number and there you have the full V5 document reference number. Thumbs Up

Hi all I've never ever posted on a online chat before but I now feel the need. I am waiting to take my test so I bought my first big bike from Bike-Onic Motorcycle Centre. They came over 100 miles to drop the bike off and all looked good but then. I'd left the bike in a garage and had not been on the bike at all but to my amazement there was a small oil leak. A small oil leak from a cold engine is bad I know. So I had my dad come over to inspect and what he found was just dam right disgusting. The whole bottom case is missing looks like some one took a shotgun to the bike. So I have spoke to the shop today over the phone and I'm now waiting on them calling back

Ouch, that's a poor show even for Vinny. Presumably this is another "spares or repairs, no warranty expressed or implied, salvage only, not for road use" bike?

Got pictures? Not that it'll matter, really.

Probably more important: how did you pay for it?

Have you contacted his excellent customer service yet? What have the honest traders got to say for themselves? Great that you haven't ridden it yet, his normal 'wear and tear' lies won't work here.

Also, don't forget to charge his for the mess it's caused in your garage. Wink

Is he still going?

I bought an old CG125 off Vince Candelin, hardy a bike as it is, it broke down on the way home!

I fixed it myself, not being aware of his track record as this was way back. Needed a woodruff key and some threadlock... just for starters.

Had wrong shocks on the back, swingarm pivot was also seized effectively making it a hard tail. Not being too clued up I failed to spot this before buying.

It's a shame people are still only likely to find out about his questionable practices after buying, having a problem, searching and THEN finding out.

anyone got some old leathers?

Could go round, take a bike out for test ride and crash it due to the faults on it, drag it back and wonder off?

Smiler is good at crashing bikes isn't he?

I've got a free saturday morning next weekend, tempted to pop in...

how come Rogerborg hasn't invited Vince to join the discussion? isn't that the usual practice?

Just came here to say thanks for this thread! Nearly went over and gave this fella a wad of cash for my first big bike.

When I rang about the bike I was interested in I got - "That's sold, but we do have this one in at £500 more, better condition etc etc"

Promised me the earth and talks a good game, I just hope everyone sticks them in google before buying anything from them.
